I don't think it is how much of a fabulous scorer he is. I mean take a look at Melo. He's hands down the best pure scorer in the league. But he rarely makes his team better or comes short having Mr. Big Shot at his side.

a lot of players can drop big points on bad teams. what we have learned is kmart is not a franchise player/superstar. he's a borderline all-star, and that's most likely the most we can get for tracy right now.

unless the team wants to resign him, then they have to look to trade him b/c he's just going to walk. might as well get some pieces for yao or tradeable assets.

Tracy is also a horris defender, and Charmin soft...

Martin is the better shooter. McGrady the better distributer. I'd prefer the better shooter at the 2.

Melo is just as important to his team as Billups is, if anything the playoffs showed he was probably more important.

Kevin Martin doesn't need to make this team better(I think they have proven that they all are capable NBA players), he just needs to score. He just plays in Adelman system and he'll be more than good for this team.

Where did you see him as a horrid defender? He was average sometimes but horrid. Forget about that 30 what games last year where he shouldn't have played anyway.

(The Rockets would take on two terrible contracts to have one guy who can score, but will do little else, and is injury prone. If there was some young, future star included in the deal, the decision would be tougher. Otherwise, that's a deal that makes sense for Sacramento, not Houston. -- Jonathan)

jon's opinion on this talk. i agree with him, but what else can you get for tmac?

How do we know that, he's never played on a good team?

    I think it's a good trade.

Ok. This works in the regular season what about the playoffs 2nd round against the Lakers? Melo and Billups have failed. You think Martin will get us over the hump?

if you're a really good player, you make your teams at least somewhat respectable (or competitive). the kings just plain sucked the past few years, and this year until he got injured.

it's a good trade only if we can't get any better offers for tmac.

But if Morey makes the trade, something tells him it improves the team.

Plugging Kmart into this system is deadly. Yes we are still short...but it would be nice to have a guy who can create for himself when we really need it.

Jonathan Feigen does know more than the majority here. This is not about Martin alone. We have to give away JT or somebody else to get frickin Nocioni?

You mean the conference finals? Oh, Lebron has failed against the Magic, that makes him less of a player.

You think Tmac will get us over this hump?

What if your team completely sucks, has been through coaches?

Also the Kings have been competitive, moreso than other teams. No the guy isn't Lebron or Kobe and that's who you are comparing him to basically when you say that. That's what THOSE guys do, the once in a lifetime guys. Kmart isn't that, but he's a hell of a player. His only concern is injury.

Also you see a lot of times players improve playing on better teams because they are motivated.

it's pure talk. i don't think morey would do this deal either b/c morey has repeatedly said in regards to tracy is this: i want someone who is an established all-star or has the ability to become one with tracy's skillset (ala joe johnson or that type of player).

the past few years, morey has accumulated players who are multi-dimensional (AB, ariza, scola, landry, budginer...). the only one-dimensional players left are shane and hayes (not his guys) in terms of where they impact the floor (those guys primarily defense). kevin martin is a one-dimesional player (he's simply a scorer, a great one at that).

but i think morey wants an all-around player in return for mcgrady. if he does intend to trade tracy, this kevin martin deal is one of the last he'll look at.

and Morey knows more than Feigen. If he makes the trade it will work out, when has he failed us? If he's considering the trade that means it's the other team that is thinking about us.

    Morey has not failed us!

You don't see the bigger picture do you? We would have the same problem or more of a problem distributing minutes among 2 and 3s. Chase would the odd man out more so. We'd be forced to make a follow up. Depending on how healthy Martin is, few franchises would want him or Noc.

he hasn't done the trade. this all talk. and i'm sure there are a ton of mcgrady talks (i'm sure morey wants to know the relative value of tracy every week).

Where does it say Morey is considering this seriously?

The last time I looked, the OP said this:
This is sounding like I heard from a friend of a friend......
