I do not favor this. Nocioni is not a scrub, but making room for him may not be easy, although he could be traded. Kevin Martin can certainly score, but he doesn't play defense at all.

I would do this trade. Everyone in this thread is saying martin is injury prone, one dimensional, blah blah blah balh...but the dude averages 30 points a game and he's way more valuable than T-Mac at this point in time.

kevin martin hinders tyreke evans (all he does is shoot shoot shoot and does little else) so i wouldn't be surprised if the kings did do this.

they get mcgrady, and then let him walk and save cash.

they're building around tyreke evans now as you see they're 2-0 with evans doing the work, while they sucked with kevin martin jacking up shots.

kevin martin may work on our team b/c he can score. we don't need him to do anything else b/c we have others to do the other stuff.

I would do this deal in a heartbeat if we could get either of those two bigs along with Martin.

check this out: dude averages 30 and the kings can't win a game.

he's out for 2 games, and they go 2-0.

the kings will do this trade if the rockets bite. i've seen kmart play, he does nothing but jack up shots (but he's a good shooter). but i will give him the opportunity to play on this team if the trade does go down b/c this offense values shooters.

I'm from Sacramento and I've been suggesting a deal like this (with Martin for McGrady at the core of the deal) since last year when it was clear that McGrady would not be able to play at an effective level.

Why I would like the Kings to do this is because, while McGrady hasn't been doing much lately, he is a "star power" and would give Sacramento some media attention. I'm one of the biggest T-Mac fans out there, and I would love to be able to watch him play on a normal basis (I went to the Kings-Rockets preseason game last year to watch him and Yao).

Many people believe that T-Mac is basically done in the NBA, but I think he's still very capable. He is only 29 years old and can still be very effective. He would be a leader, as a veteran, to our young Kings team. In fact, I really think we'd be able to push for 7th-8th seed with McGrady. Maybe he'd be a name that would help us get an arena deal done here in Sacramento.

The Kings really aren't giving that much up in Kevin Martin -- trust me. This guy loves to score in losing games. He disappears in the fourth and will miss critical FTs when it matters most. I know, I know -- "McGrady is done, he is a liability, he is a ball-stopper, a quitter," but the Kings don't have much to lose (except higher draft picks that they would have otherwise gotten).

PG - Beno (need replacement next year; he isn't starter worthy)
    SG - Tyreke Evans
    SF - Tracy McGrady
    PF - Jason Thompson
    C - Spencer Hawes

Bench: Omri Casspi (another rookie prospect; top 10), Donte Green (lol), Francisco Garcia, ....

Looking at this line-up, I do notice that it's a bit limited, but the Kings are young and they are probably one of few teams with cap available. I'm hopeful. That is all.

Martin would be terrific in this offense as he moves well off the ball and is ideal at curling off screens for a catch-and-shoot. He gets to the FT line a lot and would give us a go-to option at the end of games. I don't see how Nocioni fits at all.

Well the Kings gave up Artest for an expiring and a prospect so money is obviously a priority for them. I remember a few months ago Bill Ingram on 790 talking about this trade so it could be plausible. The deal saves the Kings almost 50 million in long term salary commitments, which is great if they are thinking of selling the team (werent there discussions about this?).

-Martin (26) is signed through 2012-2013 for ~11 million each year
-Nocionni (29) is signed through 2011-2012 with a team option for the fourth year for about 7 million a year
    -No idea about Rahims salary

Are the kings under the cap? We are still about 6 million shy of matching salaries, not including Rahim.

Martin is effecient and gets to the FT line which is right up there with what Morey likes. Two defensive wings in Battier/Ariza with 2 offensive wings in Martin/Chase is well balanced. Nocionni is essentially a poison pill which I doubt we could get rid of and I dont see much use for. This trade makes some sense for both sides, but I feel like the Kings would demand Budinger over Taylor, if they were smart atleast.

    Lets see what happens!

He also gets to the line at a high rate.

It's good that you would give him the opportunity to play. :D

Haven't we learned our lesson last time when we traded with the Kings...

I am sure Hawes is untouchable but he would be an absolutely phenomenal fit in Adelman's offense. If we could somehow work something out to get Martin + Hawes, that would be incredible. Hawes is a Republican if I recall correctly so Texas would also be a good fit for him off the court.

i see the kings all the time. i've always followed the kings a little since the chris webber days. kevin martin is a bonafide scorer. BONA-FIDE.

but i would literally give him an F in every other facet of the game. he's that bad.

like i said, there's a reason the kings win their games with kevin martin being out. he hindered tyreke evans a great deal b/c all martin does is shoot. he doesn't create or do anything else.

but we do need a shotmaker and martin provides that. we have others to cover his massive weaknesses.

I also like the idea because Martin is young and we are slowly but surely becoming a younger team looking toward the future. This would be another step in that direction.
