maybe morey can steal hawes/thompson? highly unlikely, but you're right. i'm assuming a 2nd deal gets done (noc, shane, lowry or somebody) gets moved for a big man.

That makes sense, but if no one wants Noicioni already who would want him now.

My take is that if we get Martin we will hang on to him due to the fact that; he is still young, he is entering his prime, and he will more than likely be a better fit in this system more than he ever was in any other system in Sac.

I'd think if we nabbed him, Battier would still be traded way before Martin and Noicioni, since Ariza is version 3.0 and their is no value in Noicioni as of this year.

I'm sure Mr. Morey is thinking long and hard if/when this deal hits the table before he pulls the trigger. Like he said we're in sit and wait mode so he will be in no rush to have something like this done.

Maybe he can pull a sly one on them and take another draft pick from them in a deal. ;)

    You know Morey!

Great, I would rather have Lebron.

But, since we are talking about this particular deal, then my point is probably moot.

And, this deal would get my your sig for 2 weeks...what to say? Hmmmm?

Look if the Kings is strictly looking for a cap relief then I would wait for Mac to come back to the court to see if he still has it. If he does we would netting something more than Kmart and Nocioni, if not King might still bite because they're looking for cap relief.

Not sure what to think about this deal. I mean, if Morey makes it, then it's obviously good(in Morey we trust). But Martin's injuries worry me. If it wasn't for that, I'd jump all over the trade. Mainly because it allows us to basically retain ALL of our free agents next offseason.

Think about it. Assuming the current Rockets team is a .500 team. Now imagine the team + Yao + K Martin. That's a ton of talent right there.

Of course, the downside is that once again, we'd have to cross our fingers for the whole season hoping that our stars don't get hurt.

    ?

We have McGrady (granted he's out, but he plays as much as KMart does generally), Ariza, Battier, Budinger, and Lowry (PT only at 2). If the trade went down, I don't think Nocioni gets on the court much and will be shipped if at all possible.

Kevin Martin is better than TMac now. My eyes do hurt thinking of Martin and Budinger on defense together. Maybe the Rockets would go with a buddy system. Ariza and Martin leave at same time Battier and Budinger come in. Martin is very potent firepower and would definitely fit with Yao. When Yao comes back, the Rockets may have the most efficient offense with potentially Yao, Martin, Landry, Brooks, Budinger, and Hayes having a TS% over 60%.

the weird thing is that i don't even feel the need/desire to assess any potential trade. i have this unprecedented feeling that if morey makes it, it's probably gold.

that's pretty settling but also kind of sucks.

Kevin Martin doesn't seem like a "Morey" type of player.

that is a good point. these contracts are not back breaking contracts either. the problem with trading tmac has been the fact that there are just not enough trading partners out there due to the massive contract.

nocioni's contract is not good by any stretch of the imagination but at least it declines in salary each year and is a team option in 2012. martin isn't a good defender but he is extremely efficient on offense, and does not need the ball to be effective. however, his durability is a serious concern. that is the major thing that would make me not want to do this deal.

overall...i think i would like this deal even though it is certainly not perfect.

Who is to say that there aren't any teams interested in Nocioni, right now, but the Maloofs liked the Rockers offer better? It looks like the Maloofs are more interested in McGrady's $22.5 mil expiring contract than taking on more salary. There aren't many teams with an expiring $22.5 mil contract. The few teams that have that kinda space are chasing LeBron in a pipe dream.

due to the lack of defense?

i think his amazingly efficient offensive production and huge number of free throws attempted makes him morey type player. i also think his shooting percentages could go up on a better team.

To save myself some time, can someone confirm whether this is a realistic trade rumor that has some legs or whether it is just a "BBS user rumor" still at this point?

    Thanks in advance.

Now, there's a deal I would do. I think the Martin deal is more of a lateral move, unless Morey and camp are completely certain we can stick a fork in Mcgrady. Martin isn't that great of a player imo and just in case no one has noticed our offense runs great. We get good scoring opportunities on ball movement we don't need a great scorer. This team will have a greater improvement with added versatility. Bring in a big strong wing like Deng and we can score just as easily but we also maintain great defense and he'll help out on the defensive boards. He isn't that second playmaker we need but atleast he adds SOMETHING else to the team.

It's weird that this comes up after so many nice offensive performances from this team. We don't need another scorer, as long as we run the offense we can put up points with the best of them. We need more versatility, defense, help on the boards, and playmaking. Kevin Martin brings none of that.

If this trade goes down it would say more about Tracy Mcgrady than our need for Kevin Martin.

TMac doesn't play right now so he doesn't fit into our current depth. Ariza Battier and Budinger cover the 2-3 with some playing time coming from our 2nd PG Lowry at the two. If any one of them gets hurt, say Budinger then we have 4 players covering 3 positions. That is paper thin. God forbid that Lowry or Brooks happens to be the one injured. Adelman mentioned that Landry might have to play some at the 3 when Budinger was injured earlier this season.

We NEED another 2 badly. We also need to get something for TMac before he expires and this is not a horrible deal. Would I like to get somebody less injury prone and more defensive that K-Mart??? sure but I don't know who that player is?

    Sorry, not happening...

Was discussed a while ago but not recent at all. The glut of wings after this trade would be crazy. AN doesn't have a friendly contract to flip so we would be stuck with him.

And a fractured wrist for Martin just wouldn't make an appeasing trade.

Might be discussed later but for now, your buddy got some old information...

    Why does it suck?

Until Morey screws it up, we got to run with him and as I said earlier, this is the type of trade which leads to another IMO.

We don't know the next chess move from Dr. Morey.
