That was not really my point. I was lampooning the certain invention that Al Gore would not have invaded Iraq. I was just pointing out that this idea had been floating around the State Department (and indeed may have even been born in a State Department) that was under the leadership of Clinton/Gore. One opinion. That's not what most of the players in the game at the time were saying. I do agree that the threat of invasion was past.
No the idea of regime change, is not the idea for invasion. They are two things which don't always go together. Not true. The weapons inspectors who were on the ground and had the best access to tell one way or the other were certainly not saying they were a current threat.
