If Jeremy Lin did not exist, this thread still would.

This has nothing to do with Lin... but as some think everything does have to do with him, this is worth repeating: I'm not going to ignore topics and NOT discuss the Rockets honestly simply because it may hurt your feelings to do so. Nothing wrong at all with discussing the fact that the Rockets did not bring back Dragic.

Since every true Rox fans think Rox will be a much better team with Dragic, and Rox would have a far better shot at Championship, I get a great news for you fellows: Dragic will be a free-agent after next season and Rox will have a lot of money to offer when Lin and Asik comes off the book. Just write to Rox front-office and tell them don't screw up twice.

    Now go celebrate.

Exactly. Mike Conley Jr. would be the perfect Point Guard for this team.

Seems like Dragic had made up his mind to return to Phoenix whether Houston match their offer or not. So people need to stop saying he was let go.

He's not going to say anything to offend Suns fans.

The Rockets were the first to sit down and discuss a contract with him. Immediately after that meeting the media were told the Rockets weren't signing him.

We didn't have Harden at the time and so we weren't going to risk our cap flexibility by offering him too big of a deal.

Good point! But but but...what if Dragic still chooses the Suns over the Rockets? Houston can't handle the truth..... It's not us... it's him... He didn't ditch us... we ditched him... denial...denial...denial...

Clearly, we should've offered him the max.

Uh...what? Goran cost about 8M with player option. I definitdly wouldve resigned him at the time but the current roster with Pat Bev, Brooks and Lin is much better IMHO. Bevs the perfect complement to Harden and Lin provides a 6th man role Goran couldnt have done.

Houston had a 'fair shot' at him but could not change the fact that the Suns force is strong with this kid.

Suns will always be his favorite spot, under Nash he learned his ropes.
Houston is just a distant runners up.

He would've been had a per year cost that is lower than Lin. So are you just saying that the 4th year player option is risking cap flexibility? Otherwise, we literally did the exact thing what you are claiming we didn't want to do with a player that, in my opinion, is worse than Goran.

4th year player option too risky.

Makes him very hard to trade.

Would have been nice if we could have kept GD but oh well he is a Sun so F him. It's all about Red Nation.

By the time negotiations with Dragic was over and he already decided on the Phoenix deal, the Rockets did not know whether they would have Jeremy Lin yet. In fact, I recall that the Rockets may have had an initial meeting with Lin and might even have made an initial offer ($7.5M per year?), but only upped that offer after the Dragic decision was already made. Also, after the Dragic deal was officially inked after the expiration of the 10 day moratorium, the Rockets were still not certain whether NY would match the Lin offer (there was a bit of silly drama about HOU chasing the NY guys in Vegas with the offer sheet and media rumor flying).

The Rockets could well have ended up with neither Dragic nor Lin.

Eh, you have a slight bias against Lin and prefer Dragic and Lowry over him. Nothing wrong with just coming out and saying it.

After the Rockets meeting Feigen had the info there would be no deal because of that player option. IIRC, it was the day or night after when Dragic accepted the Suns offer.

A bias? Maybe he just realizes that the point guards that he listed, are better players.
