players who are getting their first lucrative contract should never look at winning first... most players dont ever get another contract worth as much as they do the first time they hit FA so you have to expect them to take as much as they can. When you are in your 30s and have already made 10's of millions of dollars is when you start thinking about winning first.

Yes, but if Dragic had accepted the lesser contract to stay here (which wasn;t much less) he could have contributed instantly and put our team into the upper echelon of the elite teams -- how much is that worth to him long term? Endorsements? Shoe deals? Fan continuity?

Right now, he's accepted slightly more money so that he can play for the same team he left. A mediocre squad with no real star power and will miss the playoffs.

Dragic is about as dumb as Bosh is. They could have made way more money from the endorsements they would get from having winning seasons here if they played here. Instead they chose nickels over quarters.

I always use to confuse my younger brother with this. I told him that his nickels were more valuable because they were thicker than my quarters and I ended up taking all of his quarters that he saved up for the year.
