GOP Oklahoma officials caught on tape talking about lynching Black people, murdering reporters

...best way to keep people (young people, in this instance) from asking too many of the wrong questions, is to make sure you give them all the right answers.

I remember in the 1950s and the 1960s, American Civics was a required course in public schools. One of the sentiments being (fueled by the cold war with the Soviet Union), that you make sure Americans knew how the government worked (or at least, how it was supposed to work), because a democratic republic would generally be harder to propagandize with foreign influences like communism if it already knew how the sausage was made.

You can make a lot of true blue patriots like that. But an unforseen (if not unintended) side-effect of that was to make younger people more socially conscious and aware than ever before.

Most everyone around this forum was alive (in some manner) during the social tumult of the 1960s. Shame people think being "woke" is some new thing leftists cooked up to get the trans vote locked up.

One of the things both Richard Nixon, and later Ronald Reagan, did to combat this deluge of free thinkers, freeloaders, n!gger-lovers and neo- communists, was to stop teaching people what their rights were under the constitution in a civics class, but where their job prospects were in economics class.

Classic divide and conquer in the tried-and-true American method of what's mine is mine, and if you're not careful, what's yours is mine, too.

Perspective, I've learned, is a funny thing. And there are very few things in this life that aren't funny things to me anyway.

Some people tend to think of a "fair" or "balanced" perspective as being able to see as much of the same thing over a large area as possible, in order to "accurately" cite where the problems are and how to fix them.

Almost enough there, on its own, to think that there's nothing sinister at work with that logic.

Until their hand is inevitably tipped and they make manifest their own paradox...where a widely reviled Negro social activist can express a fear of black people in certain situations as proof-positive of Negro degeneracy across the board, while a conservative Justice can acknowledge that the 2nd amendment doesn't preclude or prevent the implementation of reasonable safeguards at the behest of the populace, in order to protect itself from cement-headed people whose first and last impulse is to shoot first and to hell with asking any questions, ever.

Hard for me to wrap my tiny Negro brain around the fact that this nation, on average, is genuinely stupider now than it was 50 years ago.

Maybe I'm the one who needs to change his perspective...

Forgetting that afterwards the racists left the Republicans since they disagreed and became the Southern Democrats. Where they stayed until LBJ passed the civil rights bills and the racists again left and became the current Republican Party.

The MAGAts have always been around no matter what party and it’s ALWAYS been about race.

 

And they still think they need these racist votes to win.

Black voters have been the backbone for the DNC for years now because they have been so reliable and loyal. Conservatives think this is only because "They want free ****" and thus never think of ways to win black voters back to their side.

A big reason black people vote blue by default is because many feel the GOP has a racist issue and no matter the issue that supersedes EVERYTHING else. If I believe that you don't think of me as your equal I can't care about your tax cuts or the similarities we share.

The irony is if they really wanted to win this culture war...they have it right there in the general black voter that is highly religious and basically begging to be appealed to but all they have to do is STOP being racist. I'm betting poll black people on culture war stuff and most will agree with the right.

To see the usual conservative talking heads make excusers for the guy who shot a teenager is just hilarious to me. All they have to do is go "This is wrong and we need to fix this." instead right wing twitter is posting black crime stats and 'blacks are criminals' memes. Another voting cycle and it'll be another 90% for the blue candidate and Cons going "They just want free ****!"

I know you said it doesn't matter who they are or what they've done or do, even if they raped your sister you would still vote GOP so I'm guessing they could count on you, right? If you want to blow your mind...look up how Texas went from a GOP city-dominated state (rural Democrat heavy power) to the total opposite starting around 1990.

ive heard the audio. the stuff about them murdering two people is chilling. just how casual they were about it...and it did not seem like they were joking.

being racist is obviously horrible and they should be fired, but the ones talking about murdering two reporters should be charged and prosecuted. i dont know what you can charge them on, but those a**holes belong in jail. and who the f*** are the hit men from louisiana that the one dude knows?
