Rep. Adam Schiff, the minority leader of the HIC, found out about the republicans ending the HIC investigation by reading the paper.
I would say this IS a coincidence given that incriminating evidence about Russia, which is too stupid to really even hide things at this point, comes out pretty much very day
"We've gone completely off the rails, and now we're just basically a political forum for people to leak information to drive the day's news. ... We've lost all credibility" - Rep. Tom Rooney on the Republican decision to end the House Russia investigation These are exactly a Tom Rooney's words on why they ended the House Russia investigation.
I gotta agree with this reasoning. The House investigation has long looked like a sham. It was never going to be an effective tool for oversight. So, it's probably for the best to have them stop pretending.
That’s correct but the smart thing to do would be to suspend the investigation till The Special Counsel has concluded as to not have contradicting government responses to the 2016 Election meddling. Instead they are purposefully setting up a narrative that will easily be debunked (it is already debunked) which sews chaos in a democracy that already had little trust in our government. Just not enough harsh words to describe what the Republican Party leadership has done to our country these past few years. Treason is a word I think is now applicable to use as several members of their party have already earned. My hope is that the party can finally say enough is enough at some point and regain some form of patriotism. I know there are still a couple good people left in this sh$& show party that have the ability to do something.
If they had suspended, we'd get the same bs later, except tailored to the findings of the Special Counsel. They'd still be selling their alternate reality so the president can have something to hide behind. And it's hard to say that they'd be more effective now or later. So whatever. I don't think there was some 'right' thing to do, unless they somehow repented of their behavior over the last 14 months and started a real investigation. But I don't believe in miracles.
Of course they were going to do it and do it when it suits Trump which is probably now before Mueller closes in on Trumps inner circle. That being said if I was a shill like Paul Ryan but I wanted to maintain some sort of credibility with the American people I would have asked Nunes and Conaway to suspend, wait for the final indictments and then at least give yourself some runway to create a credible counter narrative other than a potential flat earth theory when basic facts are presented that debunk their report. Of course the fact that it will be easily debunked might actually help the Democrats when they inevitably have to provide a credible response or when the media will be able to say “according to the debunked Republican report”. Much like Nunes’ midnight White House run and the infamous memo, this will not end well for the Republican Party who are continuing to get caught red handed selling the country down the river for Trump.
Nunes does not seem like a smart person. It wouldn't surprise me if this stunt blew up in his face too.
Apparently the House Intelligence Committee did find something... oh wait, the Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee
Republicans fear they botched Russia report rollout https://www.politico.com/story/2018/03/15/house-intelligence-republicans-russia-probe-465805
Could the republican House Intelligence Committee be any more embarrassing in its inept efforts to protect trump? Conaway walks back comment after saying House Intel didn't probe collusion http://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-...vestigate-collusion?__twitter_impression=true
I wonder if the American public will snooze and demand a one minute soundbyte if Mueller delivers the Iliad with his taxpayer earned findings. We did elect the orange toad even with or without Russia's influence. Just a momentary thought of cynical ****ery...
