You'd get a U.S. number, yes. But, you can still get one if you're in another country. I don't think you can use it with international numbers either, at least not without getting charged extra.

How do you turn off google voice? Honestly it's so annoying. I'd rather hear messages on my verizon voicemail rather than have to download messages every time to hear it.
Technically you're downloading it when you're listening on Verizon too. Guess your Internet is not fast enough on your phone to make it as seamless with Google Voice.
I have a droid on verizon 3g. I just prefer regular voicemail that I can just 'call' than having to download it off my email everytime.
You can call and listen to your Google Voice voicemail with your phone too, just like with standard voicemail.
I cannot get Google Voice to verify my digital phone line. I go through the verification process but their system will not recognize the two digit code that I input appropriately. Anyone out there defeated this problem?
