I must be doing something wrong. I got an invite, but when I click on the only link in the invite it says they are closed to new members. EDIT: Nevermind. I just tried it again and it took me to a log on screen. strange.
There is no "wall," so not really. Maybe added later, though seems a bit at odds with the design of Google+. Suppose if you want to direct a post to someone, but make it publicly viewable for some reason, you can mention the person in the post but share it as public.
Righ (I think, don't really use Twitter much personally). It has been said before, but G+ is more of a Twitter-killer than a Facebook-killer, in terms of how it is designed. That said, I'm planning on ditching Facebook for G+ anyway.
This is the reason, I really don't like it much. Facebook is better. The main reason most grown ups like facebook is that they can keep up with acquaintances without having to call them. Its nice to be able to say happy birthday to people without having to call them, especially if you don't speak to them regularly. It won't be a twitter killer because you can't follow someone without having a google plus account. Google plus like buzz isn't going to be a major fail unless they change this aspect. The google boys don't get social networking.
Wait, why couldn't you tell people Happy Birthday on G+? Put person in a circle ("aquaintance" maybe?), make a post, say "Happy Birthday ____!" and they get the message (you could then decide to make it public or whatever). You may not know as much about them since they don't have a public wall, but that's part of the "privacy problem" with Facebook (with G+, you share info with groups of people instead of everybody seeing everything). Don't you need a Twiiter account to follow someone too? Or am I misunderstanding you? As I said, don't really use Twitter. G+ actually is supposed to roll out more "Twitter" esque stuff I think so businesses can start using it like Twitter. Ford already has, despite Google not planning for it.
