google chrome is awesome love the simplicity of the look very easy to use too i never liked firefox and ie did not play well with my home desk top
K mf G, what OS or version "desktop" do you have? Just wondering where it won't work. Posts #16, #17, #81, and #90 are also missing the "feedback" thingiemajig. You learn something everyday, eh?
windows xp and ie 7 i had a couple of friends who were techs who couldnt fix the problem ie would decide to crash pretty much every 15 to 20 minutes
that is correct the last friend decided to download google chrome and see if it fixed the problem, and i have not had any problems since
Firefox is starting to p!ss me off. I'm having a hell of a time with Youtube lately. It's having problem with loading the video.
Chrome rocks. I use it at work and besides being really fast it works great with all of our companies internal applications.
Very happy Chrome user, mainly because of the speed and simple interface. I also like how the address bar is automatically a Google search. I have Firefox as a backup. The few times I've used IE semi-recently, it seemed as slow as molasses.
I read the thread title and asked myself "again?!" Haven't used Chrome... I doubt I'll use it permanently, but I may try it out... the only reason I use Firefox is because Safari sucked on Macs. I usually just use IE.
I have the same exact problem! My youtube videos will randomly not load the entire way through. Just about any flash media video does that to me. I thought it was my pc. I wonder if FF is to blame for my downloads to randomly stop too. I can't download anything it seems unless I use a torrent program. They always stopped, I thought my pc must be messed up and need a clean windows install. I'm curious about checking a dl with chrome or IE7.
You can try this. Uninstall flash player and reboot. Reinstall flash player 10. Also try clearing your Firefox cache. If you're having problem downloading with FF pretty much it's on FF end. Try installing Flashget and Flashgot for FF if you want to download stuff. I'm using 2 version of FF. 3.5beta and 3.0.6. Or else backup your Bookmarks and passwords onto Desktop and uninstall FF and reinstall the latest Version. You might need to nuke a couple of FF folders so that it won't keep some old stuff.
I'd rather have Firefox right now because of all the history and bookmarks and everything I've had with it (extensions and all that other crap)... but I'm loving Chrome right now, it's ease of use and it runs so smooth. I won't go back to Firefox until a major update comes out to fix the bug that they have going on where it uses 99% of your memory on Firefox... its ridiculous though, it's been happening for well over 4 months now, they are so lazy.
Try installing Opera/Chrome or using IE and see if you're having the same loading problem or downloading problem. That way you know it's the either the browser(s) is the problem.
The new Firefox 3.5 beta does seem to perform much better than the currently released 3.1, but in my experience is still clearly inferior to Chrome as far as performance goes. Also be warned that since it is a beta, many of your current extensions won't work (not without a minor hack at least).
Thanks for the info. I've been using Chrome most of the day, imported my bookmarks etc. from FF. So far, videos seem to run fine in Chrome. I'm going to do what you said and try to fix my ff.
Chrome is no longer beta. Btw, like other users, I've noticed FF has been very slow recently, with flash video playing and even my typing into search toolbars. I've only Chrome as a backup before, but today I'm making the full-time switch.
I just noticed a wierd thing with Chrome. The arrow/triangle that you click on to bring down the tool bar to rate a thread in the GARM isn't there on Chrome.
Not sure how long it's been available, but I JUST noticed that you can now have extensions etc. in Chrome like Firefox! WHOO HOO!!! Added a bunch of ones I used to have on FireFox. https://chrome.google.com/extensions?hl=en-US
