yea, I know alot of people like FF, but it really just flat out sucked for me. FF crashed alot in general and crashed everytime I opened yahoo, this was all on my dell laptop with Vista(could be the issue?), but the FF interface wasn't really impressive compared to Opera or Chrome. my .02c
Might just be your computer, I'm on an HP laptop with Vista (yahoo is my homepage) and Firefox runs perfect on my system, Internet Explorer on the other hand... SUCKS.
Opera is on par with Firefox. It featured the "Fast Dial" feature before it was feautred on Firefox (confused much). Its just as safe and fast, but Firefox defintely has more add-ons, which is why I prefer Firefox. But you can't go wrong with Opera either way.
looks like you're the only one, after i saw your original post I went to Youtube and other flash related sites on it, and they worked fine.
well thats not good. haha when i come to this site it says "additional plug in is needed" and it asks me if i want to install adobe flash movie player..but it doesnt even if i choose yes.. but isnt all that built in?
I had problems with the older version crashing on XP but 3.0 hasn't crashed yet. I am using it on Vista too and had no problems. The question is, do I act the part of a lemming and download it because everyone else did or do I wait until it's been critiqued by yall?
Never had a problem with Firefox. Google Chrome is ok but nothing special about it. Its better than IE7 like anything else. I already uninstalled Chrome cause I have no use for it.
Wow, this thing is faaaaast. It's built with WebKit, btw, which is considered the fastest platform (Safari is also based on WebKit). I'll be sticking w/ Firefox because I need those plugins, but I'll keep my eye on this one.
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/networking/?p=652 In case you are interested in my opinion... The ‘net was abuzz with Chrome talk starting first thing in the morning. The guys at Google put out an online comic book explaining the changes they made to the browser and, if you are interested in the technical details, it is a very good read even for the casual geek. The highlights include separate processes for each tab, Javascript code optimizations, and an open architecture that should allow developers to write much more secure web applications. Google Chrome Comic book (Google) There was plenty of talk about the missing Google Toolbar, and it is more than a little surprising that they didn’t write one as part of the Chrome development process. There is also no current support for third party plug-ins, but if developers write to the Chrome specifications, it could make for a far more secure environment. The latest addition to the open source community is a massive shot across the bow of various rivals, and could open the door to desktop virtualization from Google. Needed for Chrome: The Google Toolbar (Technologizer) Google Chrome: a First Look (Real Tech News) First Look: Is Google’s Chrome a glimpse of the future? (Computerworld) I was thrilled to hear about Google’s new Chrome browser, I have long been a fan of the things that they are doing in the cloud. My experience today was marred only by the lack of a Google Toolbar to fully Chrome out my surfing experience. However, I did find a workaround while I was playing with Firefox and Chrome side by side. You can drag tabs from Firefox to Chrome, so I am using Firefox for the toolbar and Chrome for the surfing. I have thought that the next area of research and development should be desktop virtualization for quite some time and this project could be a positive step in that direction. Only good things could come out of Google competing with Microsoft in the desktop space. What do you think about Google’s latest move?
just d/led it, impress so far, loved how they kept it simple, did away with the title bar, and the status bar is a ghost line which is excellent, great so far, can't complain, and yes, its uberly fast.... EDIT: spoke to soon, maybe its just my PC, anybody notice any lag after watching a Youtube video full screen, then pressing ESC to go back to normal mode? Takes a bit to come back to normal mode, then continues on. Pretty funny that its their own product that it lags on.
There's something weird with the youtube chrome instructional video (if that's where you ran into this problem). The window lags after i interact with that video then try to go back to browsing. Regular youtube didn't lag my window though ... strange.
