It's a trip. We were told that and I should have mentioned it. I'm giving my router to one of my kids. As you know, Fiber includes their own router. It's impressive how they are attempting to give you a complete package for your home. It makes Time/Warner, now Spectrum, really behind the curve, big time.

Yeah, on Spectrum/TWC I'm running all my own equipment including multiple cable card htpc , multiple switches/routers etc, I couldn't imagine using their junk for access. I'm able to get Internet throughout the house wired/wireless, but if I was using theirs for Internet I'm sure my upstairs/parts of the house would be screwed. Surprisingly I've hit 400mbit recently sustained on Spectrum in RR, but the 1st chance Google or even AT&T come w/ fiber I'm gone.

Anyway it's nice to know Google isn't cheap w/ their equipment... I've seriously considered setting up a network using multiple modems w/ teaming, but since I'm currently not hosting anything I guess I'll just stay at the 20 up...

Anyway, if you go wired what's the fastest down/up speed you've hit so far? If I had your upload speed I'd be hosting all kinds of web servers, games servers /media files etc. My big plan was to setup off site family photos so I didn't have to rely on a service w/ my friend but 20 mbit from spectrum is a joke, so my wife just started using Amazon prime photos so we didn't have to host directly. 20 mbit (2.5 MB/s) is **** for upload, but since most people are consumers of content they'd never notice the difference. Haha, if I get it here I could host my own isp with that speed... My neighbors aren't too tech savvy :)

I found their wireless router to be pretty useless personally, maybe my apartment has lead paint as I've moved that router in all different spots....I use my PC the most so just ended up getting a 50 foot ethernet cable.

I would still recommend getting google fiber if its in your area as I've only had one outage in about 9 months which I got a $10 credit on my bill.

Ok, install is going on right now, as we have no Cat 5 in the house we have to run a cable up the outside of the wall through the attic and down the other side of the house, along the edge and through the brick into my office.

125 ft throw from box - to attic to modem - will update later hopefully from Google.

Ok, all done, they had to run some wire into my house, but man is it fast. I have 1gb up and down here at the PC, and around 100mb up and down at all the nodes/TV ports...we have 4 of those.

Our bill is down $130 per month from Time Warner/ Spectrum - we got TV, Phone and Internet - so far, so good.

Great news! That jives with what I'm getting. Now I need to upgrade my PC. I'm still concerned about the lack of NBAtv. If you have an idea about how to access it via streaming, etc., I'd like to hear it. I haven't had a problem with streaming League Pass, except that LP's software is crappy.

Yeah, I noticed no NBA Tv - and I was planning to stream LPass through their website or on the IPad.

Overall - other than having to change a few TimeWarner email account stuff, it has been painless....and we now have no issue with 4 nodes around the house throwing the wifi in places we could not get to before.

I've gone ahead and put in a question to Google CS, but figured I'd try to crowdsource an answer here:

I'm getting 150/100 on my laptop and iphone where I was getting 250 on spectrum earlier. Thing is, my sister and brother in law came to visit recently and were getting 450/150 on their phones.

Anyone know what might account for the discrepancy? I've updated wireless adapter driver and gfx card drivers on the laptop. Some random Win10 update has messed something up where I can't play games without FPS dropping into single digits. Now when I benchmark it I'm getting single digit FPs in that as well. Not sure how to fix it and if it's associated with the slower speed, but figured I would throw it out there. Thanks in advance.

On the wireless is there a 2.4 and 5g network? If so, see if you get a speed difference between the radios.

On the laptop check if there was a BIOS and chipset update regarding win 10 push by visiting manufacturers website. Lastly, try plugging into the router directly via ethernet just to see if speed changes more, this won't fix fps (unless it's online only game) but will ruleout if there is more stuff wrong.

And finally press ctrl+alt+del and goto taskmanager and then advanced, once there make sure nothing is eating cpu/memory/disk resources (you can sort them under each section)
