sir jackie considers trader's post "intelligent" also.

its no point of arguing with him on this, he obviously defends texxx and trader because he agrees with their political positions so he justifies texxx calling someone a douchebag and blasts anyone who insults texxx.

he hates rocket river and rocket river never insults anyone, even when fifty million posters jump on him because he says something about race.

That is an interesting distinction. bigtexx calls a whole group of people douchebagas, and it is intelligent. Batman directs his insults at one person. He isn't calling a whole group assholes, just one person. That is for some reason more primative.

You have to admit, you can say this about a LOT of D&D-only posters.

Same same for the regular hangout.

I think there should be a ratio, for every rox (or nba) post you make, you can only make 1 or 2 hangout/d&d posts, to promote greater Rocketsnessitude in general.

Or only GARM posts count towards your post count. Now THAT would be interesting.

That's actually not true at all, I don't hate Rocket River - I don't even dislike him. I poke fun at him sometimes because of his haiku posting style and I have argued with him on some issues in the past, but that's about it. Rocket River's posts have grown on me because even though I often disagree, I think he adds a different perspective to the board.

And pgabriel, it is true that Rocket River is much less confrontational and "bitter" in his posting style than, for example...you. Another thing to like about him.

FranchiseBlade, in many jurisdictions, this is actually a distinction the law makes to decide whether an insult is to be prosecuted by the law or not. For instance, in Germany, if I say "all men are dirty pigs who smell like poo", there will not be any criminal liability because (in layman's terms) the group I am addressing is so large that the law does not treat my statement as a criminal offense. However, if I were to say "FranchiseBlade is a dirty pig who smells like poo", I could be criminally liable.

So, in that sense, yes, it is worse to offend a specific person than to offend a large, not clearly distinguishable group of people.

"bitter" like calling people "liberal douchebags"?

edit: then you even responded to that post by saying he's standing up to things around here.

you're such a hypocrite its not even funny.

SJC, it just sounds to me like you have some personal dislike for Batman and are trying to use some sorta hazy objective standard in an attempt to justify it and make it look rational.

Just own up to it. You don't like Batman. Easy enough. But pretending like your dislike of him is based on some objective criteria that you apply with equal vigor to everyone is not really believable at this point. Particularly so since your presence in the D&D has been negligible in every debate but this, personal, one.

P.S. or just let the trainwreck continue in sloooow-motion!

P.S.S. As far as bigtexxx leaving the BBS, I can't say it makes much difference to me one way or the other. Unless he's planning a big "surprise, I was just kidding!" then I'm pretty sure I've already read everything he has to say anyway. But that could be said of many of us.

that is for practical reasons and not based on severity. To slander one person is probably done for specific reasons or things that person has done. To besmirch a whole group based on the actions of just a few is divisive, petty, overly broad, possibly guilty of stereotyping etc.

I'm not trying to say either way is ok. I am just saying that to call someone who targets with reason(good ones or bad ones) individual posters primitive, and to call another poster who insults a whole group based on the idea that they disagree with him smart, doesn't make sense.
