I have no doubt texxx will be back, but I disagree that that's a good thing. I'm all for more conservative posters here (lots of them preferably), but I'd like to have one or two that actually made arguments rather than just saying libpig a lot and trying to bait people. texxx was occasionally good for a laugh but that's about it -- in 6,666 posts he made zero decent or thoughtful arguments. And there are much funnier posters here. Here's hoping his break is long and that when he comes back, under the same name or another, he actually has something to say.

I understand what you're saying, but bigtexxx was actually quiet informative when it came to discussions of economics and the such, which seems to be his area of 'expertise', if you will. You're right that we could have done with less 'baiting' from bigtexxx and a number of other posters, I won't argue with that.

Still, I welcome as much diversity as we can have around here, even if it means having to put up with a few 'slanderous' comments every now and then.

Perhaps his best contribution to the D&D was the 'TIA', that alone was worth it.... ;)

Slanderous is one thing. We all make fun of each other.

Being called unamerican and a drunk is a little different.

I've explained that a lot of times, Jackie -- both with regard to my anger toward Bush and all the damage he's caused and with regard to those posters (you, chief among them) that are here for the exclusive purpose of causing trouble and pissing people off. A number of other posters have explained this as well, in this very thread. If you're going to ignore my answer, stop asking.

Maybe I should rephrase my question: Why are you so devoid of any sense of humor? Why do you take yourself so seriously? Why do you think you are a better person than others who do not share your political viewpoints? Why are you so intolerant of other people's opinions?

BJ's fighting the good fight. Some people don't like ad hominem attacks. Others find it pretty damn amusing.

I don't get your fetish with Batman, SJC.

Dang. If only I had found the time to post just one more missive I would now know what BT thinks of me... I'm so depressed. :(

So if you dislike ad hominem attacks, you think it is ok that Batman Jones calls other posters assholes?

If someone started an ad hominem attack on me, I'd fire back. It would annoy me if someone jumped in and blamed me as the only one using them.

Besides, the drunk or ******* remarks between them are commonplace on this forum. It's like some broken down Honeymooners routine.

So if Batman Jones calls me an *******, it is commonplace. If I go and - instead of resorting to similarly primitive language - call him out for it, it's a "fetish"?

Let me give you one of these:

Great final post by texxxie (even though his arbitrary criteria left me out :( ). The tinman part made me LOL.

I just noticed you haven't really called out anyone else who's cracked jokes on bigtexx with primitive language.

It's obvious from your 22 posts in this thread that you and BJ have some wierd forum history.

I marvel at your passion but don't understand why you feed the fires so much. I know I annoy you in this area but I also know you value honesty of posting style so you getting upset here is most likely carried into the real world. To me that seems like a waste of your time/energy.

SJC - if MacBeth and BJ were posting in the same thread, both equally offensive to your senses but you could only challenge one...who would it be? I guess MacB but I could be wrong because you are German.

    Good luck Texxx.

I for one am looking forward to his "I'm back" thread...

I bet SJC and BJ will still be going at one another.

This place rocks and thats why he'll be back.

I'd easily kick both guys' asses, as I and others like bigtexxx have been doing for a while. They don't really offend me, it's more that the way they take themselves so seriously and their self-righteousness amuses me greatly, and I like to expose that.

This is my favorite post from you here so far, rimbaud, as it's a more sincere one than I usually see from you. If texxx inspired that somehow, he finally did a good thing. You're right that I don't much go for your snark here, particularly in this forum, but that is largely a sign of these times. In the other forums I quite like it, but not here. Not now. I hope you will be relieved to know that when I'm not on this board I don't ever think about it. I'm not so hopped up on what happens here that it troubles me offline. In fact, when I'm not on this board I'm engaged in other things and don't care about it at all. When I'm not on this board I hardly even think about politics as loathe as I am to admit it.

But this is the only place I talk politics. I don't do it when I walk around in the world and I don't do it on any other site. I guess I do it here instead because this site provides a real cross section of real world people that don't obsess on politics and I appreciate that perspective. I like to talk politics and I like to talk about this stuff with real people but I only have a small appetite for doing such as I have other things I like to talk about. But when I do feel like talking politics, this forum has generally been a welcome place to do it.

And it's a welcome thing to have a welcome place to do it because I really, really need to vent about some of this stuff. Some of my best friends are gay and so I really need to vent sometimes about those friends being pawns in a political game. People, both American and Iraqi, die unnecessarily every ******* day because of this unnecessary and, now, unpopular war and my take is that if you can't get mad about that I don't know why you would get mad about anything. Meantime, people starve to death in this country. They freeze to death. They die of heat exhaustion. They die or suffer badly until they die because we are the only Western country that doesn't value its people enough to provide health care to them. Not because we can't afford it, since other, less wealthy countries afford it and we are wealthier than any country in the world, but because we just don't want to. And as I always say, when the question is asked here about why I am so angry about these things, why aren't you? Why aren't all of you?

It used to be more fun here. It used to be that there were at least a few conservatives here that would argue these things honestly. Not many, but a few. And I'll admit they were probably all pretty well moderate Republicans. But the hard core "conservatives," or really Bush supporters, just aren't interested in arguing their perspective. That's plainly evidenced here. They go for slanderous crap like you're either for Bush or Bin Laden (or "you want to kill babies" as from basso) and we all know that's dishonest. For like five minutes here, maybe almost five years ago now, you used to be able to find a decent argument.

In recent times we have folks like texxx and Jorge shouting scoreboard, calling the other side fringe lunatics and moonbats and libpigs in virtually every post , demanding proof of claims with cutesy tags like "TIA" and bolting the threads in which people have provided articles of support. And then, as soon as their side is losing popular support, they quit the board which is fine because I have no great desire to yell scoreboard back louder.

I don't know, Rimbaud. I just liked talking politics here. And while I was liking it, I got called a lot of really crappy things -- I really am a patriotic American and it really does get under my skin to be told that I love the people that attack this country. I also deeply believe that is a far worse thing to say to anyone than any generic curse word. And when I said that stuff was untrue and explained why and asked then demanded people stop saying that stuff they just said it louder. Probably you're right. Probably I shouldn't care and probably I just shouldn't expect people to talk to each other seriously on a sports website even if it is my favorite website and even if I do think it's populated with a ton a smart, cool and interesting people. I don't know. But I've been coming to that conclusion so you're probably right about it.

With regard to Jackie and his stuff about me not having a sense of humor... Well, anyone who's read more than five of my posts knows I'm at least almost as funny as I am angry. (And I'll admit, I am ******* angry.) But to be accused of not having a sense of humore by a guy whose best joke is to stalk an internet poster and "expose" him is just pathetic. Some people here have wondered if Jackie and I had history here. You can search on it if you're interested (and I don't know why it would be interesting) but here it is. Our entire history is that he started chasing MacBeth around the boards and I thought that was freaking weird so I said so. And he kept chasing and I kept saying it. And then he decided he'd freak on me too. Whatever. That's boring. I don't have a mad on for Jackie. I just think he's stupid and small and so, when he shows up in the middle of some other thing, I say so.

Maybe I shouldn't post in this forum. Maybe I should find another place for it. I like talking to real people about real issues, rather than talking with a lot of full time politicos or bloggers. But if it really offends people that I take serious things seriously (and I'm really not here to pitch jokey one-liners about life and death stuff), say so and I'll quit. But I will not take that stuff less seriously. In fact, I wish I took it more seriously. I think about this horrible stuff for about one hour of each day, all told. And I'm embarassed about that. I wish I thought about it all day and did more about it than to rant on a message board. But if I'm too mad now according to some of you about what's going on in this world, in the name of the great country of the USA, wow. And I say again, catch up to me and let's all get madder together so we can fix it and save some damn lives.

    Go Rockets.
