A better poll would be whether or not McGrady dunks on Yao next year....assuming either are playing lol.

Landry was being exposed big time so I don't know what the disappointment with losing him is about. Yes he dunks and is a good mid range shooter but when the defense keys on him he is practically useless and TO prone.

Folks let us be realistic. I like Landry and his demeanor for the Rockets but this team needed a big time scorer and Martin has proven that over his career. He may be injury prone but let's see what he can do with the Rockets. This is a big step in the right direction. Besides, Armstrong and Rodriguez are not really that bad to lump them as scrubs. Let's also see what they can do if the Rockets decide to keep them. Armstrong provides size and with Adelman and his crew being great at player development then maybe the Rockets now have a big man to back up Yao. I am willing to give this a chance for the rest of the season.

Again the loss of Landry is not that big considering that keeping him would have left the Rockets without an excellent SG, and Landry would not take us anywhere closer to a ring. Good trade, so far.

    Good, potentially, great trade.

Fact of the matter is that we don't need 3 post players. When Yao is back, it's just too many bodies down low with Scola and Landry. Scola is a better complement to Yao with the ability to cleanup the weakside boards and the ability to knock down jumpers.

Second, we needed someone who could score off the ball with Brooks and Lowry driving. His outside shooting and his cutting will work really well with Adelman's offense.

Downside risk is whether he is prone to injury and if he becomes a ball stopper.

    Overall I like it.

I don't like this trade as is. Adding Landry was too much to give up.
I would rather have traded "Scoop shot Scola" and/or no shot Battier.
"If" we can get a legit power forward somewhere, then I'll like it. We keep getting smaller with no toughness inside.

C'mon Daryl... make me proud, bring NY in on this thing.

Who can consistently beat a double team besides Dream? Who was surrounded by shooter by the way. Landry and Brooks was playing 2 against 5 most night in the 4th quarter. Landry is a beast one on one, the ultimate respect is the double team he never faced before. Yes we need KMart... just not at the expense of Landry.

Landry was just owned by Millsap one on one, and others have regularly smothered him lately. He is a beast one on one, no doubt, but his game was limited and predictable.

And how many rings did you anticipate winning if Landry and Brooks are the centerpiece of the Rockets? Let us just get real here, he is a bench player and may have reached his ceiling, so, replacing him with an elite SG like Martin is a great trade by DM.

i hate to lose landry but i kinda saw it coming because of hi value & his knee problem makes him a risky asset i hope i am wrong and his knee holds out but knee problems rarely do get better this is a good deal as it stands but d. m. still has an hour& b. cook to make it better i do think the $$$ ball system has changed the game & Rockets ,celtics (boo!!) are on the cutting edge

I say No because i alwasys want to win, and this puts us in position to win in maybe 2 years, or maybe never.

    Ok

    Lets go about the players.
    Jeffries sucks..
I don't get all the excitement about Jordan Hill, i think he sucks too. Hope all the believers here are right with him being a "steal".

Now, the picks. there is a good chance that we end with the same pick or better in 2011 than New York. And once all the FA choose to go to NY maybe even the 2012 pick is also worse than ours.
The picks have been reported to be Top-1 and Top-5 protected. Not so sure what happens if the nicks get the 1st and the 5th pick in each drafts. Do we get 2 unprotected picks from them for the next 2 years? Which pick will we have the right to swap and which will be ours for good?

Don't really like it. Would have preferred to end up with David Lee expiring and the right to resign a legit Center to backup Yao and one of NY picks and less horrible contracts. After all, We lost Rodrigues who is better than Hill and Jefries, and didn't fulfill our goal of having a 3rd pg.

    Change to poll.

    The options should be.

    Yes
    Yes

No losing this trade. The worst that can happen is Martin doesn't work out, Hill busts, and both picks are low...all of that happening. If one of three happens this is still a amazing deal.

    Morey runs the game folks.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention about this trade is the ammo that it gives us NEXT year at the trade deadline.

We will have Jarred Jefferies' and Battier's expiring contracts as well as a few picks to work with. That's about 15 mil in expirings and we will still have assets in Brooks and potentially in Hill as well.

Sure, it does limit us somewhat in this off season with Jefferies' contract on the books, however we wont have a good feel for our team (with Yao) in this off season anyway.

This is a great trade for now and the future

I don't really like this trade. Martin is too slight, and he gets injured too often( why do that to ourselves again, we just went through that for the past 4 years!!!???!!!). Plus he doesn't play defense, which is a big no-no on this team.....I don't like this deal. Especially after giving up my current Rocket fav Carl Landry....and the draft picks? Those things are 1 and 2 years away respectively and we have no idea how these picks will pan out.....I will lose sleep tonight over this deal....

I really don't know how I feel about the trade. I feel like we got a cheaper, less talented version of the person we just traded out of here. Well I suppose Martin doesn't have the same attitude that has turned a lot of this bbs against Tracy.

Both are offensively talented, except Tracy is better off the dribble, better creator, and passer. Both can't play D apparently, but the defensive effort is not there. Tracy's salary is muuuuch larger than Martin's.

Although, it was the trade I liked the best out of the ones being talked about.
