a big who can spread the floor and a true pg for brickston.....good deal in my book. People want every rocket to be a stellar defender but fact is alston was merely an average defender and we already have shane and ron on the court at crunch time so thats plenty of defense. You're gonna see how good this team relaly is now that tracy and rafer aren't combining on 6-27 nights as the norm.
+1. I'll vote in a few hours, but I am leaning torwards Yes. People seem to have instantaneously forgotten what a sub-par Alston is over an 82 game season.
Rafer is gone for a good pg with a lot of upside that just wasnt getting enough minutes in Memphis....we all know how much rafer hurts our team...ya sure he has a streak of good games but overall he SUCKS...he costs us way too many games...I like this move a lot...and now we have a back up C that can stretch the floor when Yao is out and let scola and artest do their thing in the post.
Brooks shined when he was starting. If the Rockets have good reason to believe that this wasn't just a coincidence, then moving Rafer may turn out to be a good move. It really depends on what Brooks gives us down the stretch. The pressure is on for him.
If this is it - it's crap. I mean Lowery is a nice pickup for the future, but I guess we'll find out if Brooks is ready to be our starter...I don't get this trade at all.
Looks good to me - like I said, Lowry is basically a younger version of Rafer. I can deal with that. Alston was playing well recently, but we all know how streaky he can be so mind as well trade him now before we have to sit through another string of "o fer xx" nights. If Tmac's injury dooms this team for this year, why not get a young PG who is only slightly worse than Alston now and will be as good if not better than Alston in the near future - and much younger. Besides, Lowry takes it to the hoop - something few on our current roster do with any sort of regularity. I like it - I think this kid is seriously being undervalued on this board right now. I imagine Brooks and him split time according the matchup - let Lowry take the bigger PGs like Billups and Brooks can take the smaller ones.
it could be great or it could be unbelievably bad. right off the bat i think this helps orlando a lot. rafer was a vocal leader and while he didn't always play well he got the team into it's sets and ran the offense smoothly. he's also been fantastic as of late and he's an extremely underrated defensive player. morey has given me no reason to question him so i'm gonna play wait and see though if it were up to me I'd pass on this deal.
I think it's somewhat anticlimactic, and there will be good and bad with being rid of rafer, but mainly I don't see how this alone helps our team. Maybe there's a long term goal with this move, but right now, I don't see how we are better after this move.
Excellent point, people fell in love with the AND1 dude "Skip To My Lou" and haven't realized his changed to Mr. Inconsistency
Morey is not that stupid to make that trade if there's no another involving Baron. At this moment, I don't believe in this trade, doesn't matter to me that appeared on ESPN or the Crhonicle. MOREY WOULDN'T DO THIS TRADE... if there aren't more trades coming...
