Muslims preserved translations of Western philosophers of antiquity. The Greek and Egyptian civilizations would pretty much vanish from European thought without the detailed works coming from Muslim traders.

From the Rennaisance to the Enlightenment, all poof without that contribution.

All our modern ideologies and philosophies come or are derived from dead men several thousands of years ago. But we're alive, so we're the best humanity has to offer...

Ummm, like burying female babies, or the Polyandry? Maybe the illiteracy of the Arabs in general. Or maybe it was the constant fighting and bickering amongst the different tribes.

At some point I had some sort of respect for you, but the constant annoying bickering and repeated random cheap shots coming from a grown man is pretty pathetic.

We understand your point of view on all of this religion stuff. Ignore it. You wont see me posting in any threads that annoy me or don't interest me much.

seriously DD, over the past years Ive enjoyed most of your posts and all but why post with only a negative attitude in a thread that isnt at all to your liking..this isnt the d&d its the hangout..and im glad you have your opinions on religion or whatever but when someone starts a thread to be informed about something that they have little to no info on it is a pretty douchebag move to come in to try and siderail it with YOUR beliefs..oh and the short bus joke was damn lame..i know you can do better than that

What does any of that have to do with Islam? The thread topic was "GOOD THINGS ABOUT ISLAM"

And so far not one thing has been posted about that topic....lots of people saying....well this guy did this and he was Muslim so.......

That is not the same thing.....

Adeel, that comment was directed only at V3.0, he follows me around like a lost puppy dog, or an anal wart (you decide) and takes lame shots at me in tons of threads. It has nothing to do with the thread or topic at hand.

    As for that......

And yes, you are correct, I find religion, silly.

And, I will take your advice as well and try to avoid threads of this nature, even though to me, this thread is like watching Tom Cruise speak about Scientology.

Religion just bugs me....in general....but I realize that me speaking about it bugs others as pointed out by several fine posters in this thread (Not you V3.0)....and I respect those people (Not you V3.0), if not their opinion/beliefs about religion.

    DD

I already know your opinion on religion, that wasn't the point. I just thought it would be more appropriate for you to just state your opinion without hiding behind question marks or smiley faces. I don't think you will hurt anyone's feelings, so no worries.

As for 'validation', who told you I was looking for any? If I was I wouldn't seek it from a mere mortal, or on an online forum. I am not out to convince people of anything, especially when it comes to something as personal as faith; it's hubris to think I can. To each his own, there is nothing wrong with that...

'Separation of Church and State' is a noble ideal, but it leaves us Americans at a distinct disadvantage when trying to understand and deal with societies which do not have that separation.

As completely foreign as it would be to most of us here today to imagine our government being one and the same with a 'state religion', the fact is, much of the world DOES exist in that condition, and the majority of those nations are islamic.

The dangerous result is ignorance, espoused in statements made by people like DD (sorry dude, but it's true) who makes the fatal mistake of lumping all 'religions' together as one easily-dismissable oddity. To have that position is to really only admit a woeful lack of either religions in general, or the many specific things about them which make them completely different animals from one another.

The problem is, because of our 'Separation of Church and State' mentality in this country, almost no one ever learns anything of substance about the religions of the world. And this is a mistake, as one cannot learn about the governments of many nations without also having an understanding of the religion which controls them.

Even worse, outfits like CAIR (the #1 wahabbi front group in this country) have long understood this blind spot we have here, and used it to their advantage, loudly screaming about discrimination whenever anyone has the audacity to question or criticize islam, but also in the aggressive building of mosques here, aggressive proselytization, setting up 'schools of islam' on many many college campuses (accompanied by millions of dollars of 'donations'), all in an effort to enable the wahabbis to get a strong and entrenched presence in this country, for the sole purpose of subverting it from within, in much the same way that has already happened in most of Europe.

People need to start paying attention, and soon: how many more 'honor killings', where fathers and brothers murder their own daughters and sisters, do you need to hear about before you take this threat seriously? How many film-makers need to be murdered in broad daylight for the 'crime' of criticizing the misogynistic way that islam dictates women be treated? How many more people need to be beheaded in front of a camera? How many more riotous masses of thousands of people need to be seen screaming for the deaths of all non-muslims? How many more people need to be threatened, attacked and killed, all because some editor of a NEWSPAPER in a FREE COUNTRY which has FREEDOM of the PRESS decides to reprint some 'cartoons' depicting 'mohammed'? How many more airplanes need to be flown into buildings? How many more videos do you need to see of 4-year-old children wearing masks and carrying machine guns, being trained from birth to kill Jews? How many more people need to put on vests filled with nails, ball-bearings, rat-poison and dynamite, before murdering innocent people in cafe's?

How much more of all this is it going to take before you wake up and realize that these animals have YOU in their sights?

At the very least, try to educate yourselves at least to the point where you can tell the difference between a 'religion' and an ideology which is determined to rule the entire world, and which CANNOT peacefully co-exist with any other ideologies. (Understand, I am not talking about ALL of islam here, but primarily the wahabbis, the overwhelmingly dominant force in islam today. There are sect of islam which are against this violent aggressive ideology, notably the Sufis, but they area tiny minority, and generally mistrusted and marginalized among muslims, and virtually ignored by everyone else.)

If you care about the future, if you have children, or plan to some day, then don't bury your heads in the sand, and don't just take other peoples' words as truth - learn for yourself, on your own, and make your own conclusions. But don't do nothing, because that is suicide.

Mohammed himself had a great admiration for both Christians and Jews. He specifically commanded that no harm was to be done to them.

Now, try to go to Saudi Arabia as an openly Christian person. Or heaven help you if you're a Jew.

Yeah, that's another one of those things that should give people a good laugh..

We get your point already. Your diatribes are better served in the D&D.

The goal of the thread is pretty simple, there are some good Muslim people who have made positive contributions to society and are to be discussed here.

You're right, of course. Just something about the OP's post - 'all the hate islam gets'... good grief!

As for positive things islam has done, without question, islam put an end to polytheism in a part of the world which had always been polytheistic.

No one is following you around, delusionary one. I read and commented on this thread before you made your usual "I really don't know what I'm talking about" comments. I admit while skimming I came across your usual turd post, and couldn't help myself putting the magnifying glass over the cockroach and torture you just for a bit. I shouldn't take guilty pleasures but it was there to be had.
