Roc Paint: We won't get your suggestion until he's at least 15!;)

Stay focused, people! I know "kiddie" places, especially the chains.

Are there any normal restaurants that would be fun for a kid? Like something other than Rainforest or the Aquarium?

I just did some research, here's what I found.

The guy who co created Pong and started Atari, Nolan Bushnell sells Atari to a Warner Communications. He's left on as head of Atari and signs a non-competitive agreement for 5 years. All of his ideas are ignored by the corporate bosses. Atari launches the first Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre to introduce games to younger kids since most games are in bars and bowling alleys.

Bushnell is upset with corporate bosses and leaves, but buys out Pizza Time since Attari wasn't interested in it. So the single restaurant is succesful but Bushnell still wants to improve it. At the time, the animatronic characters are just in picture frames and he wants to improve that, so he finds out about this young guy in Orlando who has created better animatronics. He can't get the guy to go into business with him though.

Later, he makes Pizza Time into a franchise and a guy who owns tons of motels signs an exclusive deal. In the process of starting up the franchises, the motel guy isn't happy with the animation and hears about the guy in Orlando and finds out about the much better animation he's created. He tries to get out of his deal and goes into business with the animatronic guy in Orlando. The motel guy calls his pizza places Show Biz and goes to court with Pizza Time.

They settle out of court and Show Biz agrees to pay Pizza Time a portion of it's profits for 14 years. Pizza Time goes bankrupt after the Atari guy borrowed against his stock to fund other projects that never take off. Show Biz buys out Pizza Time and starts using Chuck E. Cheese in their shows. Then in the 90's they change to Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza, then to just Chuck E. Cheese's and change him from a rat to a mouse.

I can't believe a guy has a site devoted to only this.

Oh, how I miss two pesos. It was just awesome. All the memories of hanging out there at 3 in the morning after partying in high school.

15, who are you kidding? He'd be better off staying home and playing violent over the counter video games at this stage of his life. ;)
