FX The Hulk Celtic Pride I even like those OLD SPIDERMAN MOVIES those Mid 90s HULK MOVIES Rocket River
I was joking. I was so moved by this movie I researched the author of the book it was based on. It turns out he had an Iranian girlfriend whose dad was similar to the father in the movie. He also had some very interesting things to say about his writing process and how he came to end the story as he does. I won't say anymore about that or it would spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it.
I love obscure movies... its a struggle for me to watch anything mainstream now... once you go strange deep philosophical movies you can't go back to mainstream stuff... My list of obscure movies include... 1.) Garden State 2.) Donnie Darko 3.) Memento (messed me up for like three days) 4.) High Fidelity 5.) Scanner Darkly 6.) Ghost in the Shell 1 and 2 (If you dont have a philosophical background you'll be left wondering what you just watched, especially in part 2) 7.) Brick (After you watch this movie you'll be like whoa this is soo cool) 8.) Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 9.) The Proposition 10.) Chasing Amy (Dont know how obscure this is but I love the ending, you know whats going to happen but you can't believe he is going there) There are more..... by the way the Angelica is cool, on Mondays you can watch movies for only six bucks, they pay for your parking and you get a free drink and pop corn.... you guys should check it out
Lots of good flicks mentioned, especially Lone Star, After Hours, and The Last Detail. One movie not mentioned yet (I think) is Breaker Morant. It won Australia's best picture award some years ago. It is the story of a court martial of Australian soldiers fighting the Boers for the Queen in S. Africa in the early 1900's. Sounds boring, but its a great story, and it is an interesting parable for Vietnam and soldiers fighting irregular wars everywhere including Iraq. As a bonus it contains one of my favorite lines from moviedom: during the court martial proceeding one of the Aussies is asked about diddling the wife of a Boer soldier who is away from home fighting, and he replies "nobody misses a slice off a cut loaf."
Wait, wait, wait... ... you're from Mexico? I vote for Zatoichi, the newest one. Badass samurai flick.
Good calls on The Last Seduction, Breaking Away and Garden State in the previous two threads. I'll have to check out the other ones ya'll recommended. I've got one... The Straight Story
I'm REALLY disappointed in you, RR. The fact that Celtic Pride is one of the most un-funny comedies ever made isn't even the real reason to hate it. No self respecting Rockets fan can possibly like that movie for the simple fact that the Utah Jazz win the NBA title at the end.
here's one: Return to Oz don't laugh, it's teh sequal to Wizard of Oz of course, but this movie is freakin' dark and serious. it was quite spooky to me as a kid and loved it. i don't know how well it holds up now and it's probably hard to find a copy but definitely not your mama's Oz.
A few more movies that just came to mind. Ragtime. That was a great film. Cagney's last. Once Upon A Time in America. And following up on Burzmali's Samurai theme, I will add any of the movies in the Lone Wolf and Cub series.
hey I was scrolling through the TV and say it was coming on so I threw it on the list I redeem myselves by saying it had to be PURE FANTASY so I mean . .they beat the Celtics Rocket River . . it had Dan Akryod . . or something like that
