And it's great to be in a healthy market like Houston.

Houston wins with this contract situation. Don't see how we don't.

Because they get to unload longer term contracts and start over.....with the cap dropping next year, and some teams in serious financial straights, it makes a lot of fiscal sense.

See, that is what most people on here do not get, the NBA is not entertainment for the GM and owner, it is a business, to make money....and if they are LOSING money they will make adjustments to their roster to get a healthier bottom line.

Most fans don't think like that, or want to believe it, but it happens every single year.

Just curious: would you do Curry/Jeffries/Gallinari/2012 #1 (unprotected)/@$7mil TE for McGrady/Cook? I would. Might not be my first, second or third choice, but I'd do it. And after next season both contracts expire (and both guys actually have some game, even if I'd love them flipped)

I keep hearing about this increase ticket sales thing if TMAC is traded to Philly. I'm not seeing it at all. Allen Iverson increased ticket sales in Philly for like a week. If he can only do it for a week, I'll give TMAC maybe two games. :p

And because TMac is still a big name. Yes he is. (Which means his contract is worth exponentially more than JO'Neal's.)

This is also true, because they use the "Big name" to fool their fans with a PR campaign.

"We are not starting over, we get a 3 month look at TMac".......

When the reality is, that they are starting over, but they use it as a smokescreen for the home team fans who don't want to deal with the realities......which most fans don't.

Are you sure McGrady would accept a Bird-losing buy-out? Count me in the camp that says Arn is Tellum McGrady to not, not I say, be bought out!

I think it has been reported on multiple occasions that the Rox would be willing to take on longer term deals if they get younger talent or all-star level talent so I can see a AI/Dalembert deal taking place but at the deadline when offeres are being compared. How about this...

    AI/Kapono to the Rockets

    McGrady/K.Thomas/Rodriguez to the Sixers

Dalembert to the Kings+3 million from the Rox to pay for Dalembert's trade kicker.

Rockets get their man and another shooter(whose 6 million dollar contract expires at the end of the season) along with getting under the LT.

Sixers get about 33 million in cap relief next season while staying under the LT.

Kings get Dalembert to give them the defensive center they need to go along with their stud PFs along with also staying under the LT.

Only question is whether Sac Town would want to pay for another yr of Dalembert's contract...I'd make this trade from all parties involved.

Something tells me we're not playing our best player who makes almost 20 mill less than 30 mins a game. Unless he's about to be traded

Many forget his bone was realigned to keep the fractures from happening again. If succesful, he should be like Big Z and be able to play that much, of course you dont want him close to 40 for other reasons, but 30 + is still reasonable. Now if it's not succesful, well then you got much bigger problems because even 20 mins a game can be an issue.

you should have kept reading past that post. If Arenas, jaminson, brand and butler had the contract of a brian cook, i think we'd all chip in here to get them, but that's not the case.

There is a reason why the comeback by Z is regarded as a remarkable comeback. The odds of yao being the Yao of old are slim. I've bene saying for year he should have been playing less than 30 minutes during the regular season, to keep him fresh and ready for the play offs.

I have a question, not sure if this is the right thread to post this in, Daryl said on 610 last week that's there's still a possibilty of signing Wafer again, if somehow that happened, when Tracy is traded, wouldn't we have to many people on the roster, if we did a trade? I'm assuming that by the time Tracy is traded, Harris will probably be back in the d-league though. Thanks for any help.

Kapono has a player option for next year, so he's not expiring. Deal is a no-go. I would do this:

Rockets receive: Iguodala, Speights, Kenny Thomas
Sixers receive: McGrady, S. Rodriquez, Jermaine Taylor
Kings receive: Dalembert, and maybe a draft pick

    All the teams win here.

The Rockets do this to get Iguodala and we all know what he can do. Him and Trevor in the starting lineup would be so nice. Even him and Battier and have Trevor come off of the bench with Lowry and Landry. We have our future C in Speights. He can start in front of Hayes and have Hayes come off the bench. The nicest thing about Speights (besides his efficiency) is age. He's only 22. It has already been stated that a young player has to be included, and Speights is it. Then, we get a nice medium expiring in Kenny Thomas to use towards resigning Lowry and Scola.

Sixers do this because they get rid of Dalembert's contract. McGrady and Rodriquez are expiring contracts. Jermaine Taylor can be a project guard for them.

Kings do this to get the size that they want (and need) down low. They have their rebounder and shot blocker. That team will be looking good.

i think houston should have played mcgrady his 30 minutes so he averages his 18 5 and 4 so teams can say we can use that. teams like the kings, thunder etc those 9th place teams to make it to the playoffs so they'll sacrafice a little bit. but instead they think they can get a star for a player who they only play 8 minutes a game.

xiki, I did not intend to insult you for starting this thread. I actually agree with you about the developments over the past few days being a positive for McGrady's trade value. I just don't think that the Rockets will get quite the deals that some people think are available (in the case of Butler) or that the Rockets would be willing to take on such horrendous contracts to get a good (but not great) player (in the case of Iguodala).

Again, due to the trade kicker, Dalembert would not be getting "flipped" at all. It would have to be a 3-team trade or no dice. (Also, you can't combine Dalembert with other players in a subsequent trade, but you can in a 3-team deal that happens simultaneously.) But my guess is that Sacramento's earlier interest in Dalembert was based on a proposal of Nocioni and Udrih's equally bad contracts. Hence, Dalembert is still in a Sixers jersey and not a Kings jersey.

Still, I agree with the spirit of your thread. Just not the details.

That post has pretty much my entire response to your post, all before you even bothered posting in the first place.

Also, thanks for insulting me for a lack of creativity. Last time I checked, "creativity" was not synonymous with "total lack of reality". If not being willing to take on a $14.2M cap figure next year (which will prevent the team from re-signing Scola and Lowry) is labeled as a lack of creativity, then I most assuredly hope that Morey is not very creative.

For that to even matter, McGrady must play somewhere this season and be successful. Nobody is going to open the vault based on what he hasn't done in 2 years. He can't afford to sit on the shelf the entire season.
