I agree. I'd love to think the Rockets could sign Bonzi to a longer deal, but it's doubtful this will happen, so yes Maggette would give the team another atheletic guy besides Mac that can give us good size plus scoring for years to come.

Maggette's game also compliments Yao's game and we know T-mac wouldn't mind the help.

    Per Studogg:

"On the Bonzi front, it isn't like he's contributed all that much so far. He better hurry and get in shape before he loses any more minutes to Snyder."

I am pleased with Bonzi. He plays with heart and has improved every game. If not hurt too bad, he can and will contribute mightily to the Rockets to enhance his value to a potential team. He is going to be playing for a contract.

we need bonzi on the court to get in shape but in his current condition he's not much of an upgrade over snyder, hopefully he gets well soon.

both matt and ic2000 have indicated this is a real injury so i don't know why people still have a conspiracy about it. from watching the last few games he played he looked like he was enjoying himself and neither side seems to be in a hurry to get rid of the other anymore. it's possible we trade bonzi but he's still more valuable than his contract so it'd have to be for a pretty nice player.

it should be real helpful getting snyder back. he gets to the rim practically at will and his height makes him atleast decent on defense.

Don't you think it is funny that Tmac gets hurt .. Bonzi is allowed to get some minutes. Now that Tmac is playing again .. Bonzi comes up with back problems. Sounds like the workings of another power involved here .. AKA JVG

Just things that make you go hmmm. I guess we won't see Bonzi back on the court until Tmac has his next back spasm.

Can we give mattj a special membership category so that we don't have to remind some poster that he works for 610am? Something like "He works for 610AM" should do.

I don't think we need Bonzi at all...especially the out of shape Bonzi that the Rockets have been stuck with.....

If he was motivated and ready to play, then great, but so far......he has been the biggest bust this year.

And, I don't believe that teams need a 3rd scoring option, it can be accomplished by the "Whomever is hot" methodology.

Ala - Hakeem and Clyde....or Hakeem and nobody in his first championship.

Each night someone else stepped up.

Same thing with Jordan and Pippen....they did not have a consistent 3rd scorer, but a different guy stepped up....same with the Lakers of Shaq and Kobe....and who was the 3rd scorer last year on Miami?

    Just call me Da-Myth Buster.

I am in the "Whatever good we can get out of Bonzi we'll take it" catergory and be satisfied with that. I try to look ahead to the playoffs and he can be a big assett then. So if he get going until the end of March I am fine with it. And I would still like to see Sura around that time, too.

Injuries worry me so I like to prepare for the worst. I'm one of the biggest T-Mac supporters on the BBS and even I have to fear and acknowledge the possibility that his back could go at any given moment. I'm not advocating some blockbuster deal that gets us some AI-level 20+PPG scorer. The closest thing i've come to suggesting that is suggesting we go after Artest since his value is probably really low.

Bottom line for me is I want another guy that can create his own shot and be a solid #2 guy in the event T-Mac has to miss any games and wouldn't mind being the third option in the perfect world when everybody is healthy. Head and Battier are spot up shooters. Bonzi feasibly could be that guy but he's yet to show with his injuries and conditioning that he can be trusted. Howard has been kind of an enigma this year - he's played so well but he's best suited for the role he has now. It seems we have four players that could conceivably fill that role but i'm not sure if I can see it happening.

Granted, this mystery guy i'm alluding to may not be out there but if an opportunity comes along to acquire a player like that I sure hope we don't pass it up if the price is right.

I still think Bonzi has a clause in his contract that says he's allowed to promote his club nights.. they are just keeping it under wraps. :p

I agree that we should take whatever good we can get out of him. I believe the lower back inquiry is legit especially with the extra weight he is carrying. He is definitely a step lower and can't get off the ground that fast. Just look at a picture of him last year and now - big difference at least 20-25 lbs. I think it is absolute necessary for the rockets to work him into shape. However long it takes, rockets can afford to do that. He is only getting 15-20 minutes a game. He is definitely a nightmare for teams that don't have a strong SG/SF to take him down the post. Especially when Yao comes back, teams can't have their center sag down to double him in the post. If they do that, Yao can just run straight down in front of the opposing team center and hav an easy shot.

I like Bonzi's attitude on the court. I think he is frustrated with the offensive fouls call on him but he is a step slower so they are charges. He will get into shape, he is a known commodity.
