I'd like to see Phil Jackson, or hey, even Pat Riley coach a bunch of rookies. Oh wait...

Rudy was/may have been the wrong guy at the time, but we're talking about him taking over a team that will be, by that time, a group of playoff tested vets. Sorry, but I just don't buy that Rudy instills loser attitudes and I refuse to pull the quite obvious rebuttal out.

Never underestimate the heart of a CHAMPION.

He has the respect of not only Hakeem but Barkley (how many coaches have that?), so don't go bad mouthing him :(

Goes to establishing the credibility of the witness.

And if growing up means I stop bashing the Jazz or Jazz fans or, nearly as bad, that I start bashing great posters like Doc Rocket, no thanks.

The heart-felt slogans are nice but underneath it all, it's a business.

How much respect did Hakeem show when he thought Rudy and the Rockets low-balled him and he took Toronto's deal because it was for one season longer? The season that just ended BTW.

I really don't want to see steve go... Stevie teaming up with Vince Carter is going to make one of the funnest teams to watch. I want Jalen Rose here just not at the cost for Steve. A 6'8 point guard that could let steve run free at scoring is exactly what I've been wanting for this team. I'd trade Cat but not steve....

I hadn't thought about that in a long time. You and Batman make the idea of getting Rose pretty hard to stomach.

Man, I go to the movies and come back for a Doc Rocket thread that's blown up, of course.

If a team has a player selected by the Bobcats, the team receives a trade exception equal to the player's 2004-05 salary. This allows teams to replace a player lost in the expansion draft with another player of comparable salary.

    - aelliott, from http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77009&perpage=30&pagenumber=2

So, if we did the Bobcats trade with Francis, we get a huge trade exception? Would we be able to do anything with it, considering we have a large one already? Can we combine the 2? Would there be a deal, deals, worth using it? I guess there are going to be a whole raft of teams with exceptions after the expansion draft. That makes the exception we have less of a hot item, doesn't it? Does that mean we should have already used the damn thing? (I need to go see something other than flicks tailored to an 8 year old! The things you do for your kids...)

Man, I need to drink some coffee and wrap my head around the riffs in this thread. Thanks for the buzz, Doc Rocket... I've been trying to get my mind off the playoff frustrations.

I used to like Jalen Rose a lot, he is a hard nose player that plays hard every night. He would not give up any ground to anybody.

After last season, I'm not sure any more. If he, Mo Pet, Marshall along with Carter can not bring Raptors to the playoffs in the least, what can they do along with Yao in the west. Best case senario is we go to playoffs again, but I doubt we can go beyond first round.

Rose also has a huge contract, which means if this trade does not pan out as expected, we may stick to his contract for a while.

The only brightside of the trade is we also acquire a high lottery pick, which can be used to pack with other Rockets/TE to trade for an impact PF, that can be a potential overhaul of the whole Rockets roster.

I have a feeling that if this trade do happen, half of Rockets may change the address before the season start.

This trade have a VERY high risk, but potentially high Return, I am not sure the risk is worth taking though.

Marshall is your typical solid fantasy role player. When he's not in a slump or hurt that is. He's not the kind of player you want to import into a growing team. He can put up sick stats for a bad team but doesn't seem to contribute to winning at all. One has to wonder why so many teams have passed him on....

Give JVG a break. He's turned us into a good defensive team in a very short time and that's a pretty big achievement after years of Rudy's crappy coaching. He may be a pain in the a$$, and I certainly am not in a position to dispute Doc's account of his reputation within the organization, but he's done exactly what we brought him in for.

I think none of this is as bad as William Hung singing 'she bang' or whatever the hell the name of that song is AGAIN on ESPN.

I would boo him. I hate that guy for the same reason you do. I still hold that grudge. You're not the only one.

Maybe Steve was just talking crap, for the fun of it. Just like the crap trade deal he heard.

Well just repeating what others have said, but don't you think Steve is just speculating. I don't even live in Houston and I know that "trade Steve" is on the radio talk shows as a regular feature. So are " need a real point guard" and "can't win with him".

Big shock that after a big loss he thinks he will get traded. No way management pulls Steve aside and says " by the way, we are thinking of trading you and here is who we are considering getting. Oh yea, have a nice summer!". I mean that is abaolutely out of the realm os possibility.

I do believe that Steve said what was reported, but it was just him speculating.

Second issue repeated; JVG has done a great job. McBeth said it best, we needed a disciplarian and we needed a better defense. He has brought us exactly what we asked for. He did it in one year, with somebody else players, and in spite of their established bad habits. I think JVG has done an exceptional job.

The Hornets problem was that the city hated the owner and the managment. The Bobcats won't have that problem. Check the Oilers attendance in Houston vs the Texans. It's the same situation, Houston fans didn't hate football or the Oiler players, they just hated Bud Adams.

I just dont see the Bobcat deal happening. Why would they get Steve and then surround him with crap? They can only get players through the expansion draft and isnt their slary cap only like 2/3 of the rest of league's next year? Why get a guy who is going to be on the downside of his career by the time you surround him with real players when you can get a guy 8 years younger and have that much more time to build? In regards to the Raptor deal, that would without a doubt be my new favorite team. Steve, Carter AND Bosh? That is a squad that will win lots of games in the East and in a couple of years once Bosh adds some bulk has a legit shot at a title. Trading Steve to Toronto, no matter who we draft, makes them a much better team that the Rockets. About JVG, good riddance to bad rubbish...
