I'd think the AGENTS are the ones doing, or trying to do, the machinations. It is the AGENTS who can make or break many (if not most) deals, because of other players in their 'stables', contracts to be signed and so forth.
Bottom line is that we cannot legitimately contend for the title with the team the way it is. Hell, it was all to do just to make the damn playoffs. I think the talent is there, but the cohesiveness is not. Whether that is Stevie's fault or not is irrelevant. I would be surprised if there weren't trades on the horizon. Keep the updates coming Doc.
yeah but does getting rid of our best player from the postseason amont to a step forward when by all accounts we wont get back value? i wnt steve to stay, but if he's gone dear God at least let it be for something that will actually help this team. if yao is the man and JVG continues to force it to him down low, how long can he hold consdiering his stamina? 30 mins? what do we just count on him building an insurmountable lead and the rest of the team shutting down opponents?
One part of evaluation is the ability to put fannies in seats. If Stevie is traded the team receiving the goods is getting someone the FANS voted into the ASG thrice-in-a-row. Do not ever discount that as part of the equation, particularly in a Clipper-type environment where it's always Halloween (where the fans go dressed as empty seats)!
Yeah true but Mark Cuban aka "Daddy Warbucks" has emphatically stated that he's keeping the big 3 (Nash, Finley, Nowitzski) intact so for now, Stevie ain't leaving. This also means another year of watching Shawn Bradley gather splinters on his butt from ridin' the pine. In Maverickland, the more things change, the more they remain the same...
JJ does not play with energy, he might be the most consistent player on our team, but what steve contributes to our team no other rocket can. We can win games without jimmy, but we cannot win games without stevie. If an outstanding offer for stevie came by this summer, then i would take it, but if i was CD i wouldnt trade stevie unless there was a really really good offer. But no doubt, we have to get rid of Cuttino, and Mo. And if we dont get any good power forward out of them, then we should get one from free agency. thats my opinion.
I agree DON'T TRADE STEVIE!!! Steve is our franchise..don't y'all think Yao Ming will be sad if Steve goes? Yao and him should definitely be kept together. . . I don't like either of these trades... Trade anybody but Steve and Yao.
No kidding, I thought Jim Jackson was the biggest silver lining of this year. He was the calm veteran leader that this team needs. Remember that time in one of the lakers games in the playoffs, when Steve Francis fouled someone at the end of halftime out of frustration? Jim Jackson was right there talking to Francis, pointing to his head and probably saying, "Hey man, use your head!"
Very True they played their hearts out but each one had one of thos mistakes that broke our backs and the fans hearts. Tough to take but hey like i said the rockets lost not becuase of their skill level against the lakers but because of lack of experience.
lol don't forget Bostjan Nachbar! I still don't think we should trade Steve. I think we just need to add some decent players..some solid players who can shoot and do basic things... I would trade anyone on our team besides Steve, Yao, and Jimmy to get a better team. Try free agency I guess. It's not my choice though..
No question. I was just referring to what the other poster said about JJ not playing with energy. That made me a bit incredulous!
One thing about JJ, Steves [ and yea even Boki's] Mistakes are THEY WERE MISTAKES OF EFFORT perhaps trying too much . . or trying SOMETHING They were not mistakes of FEAR Rocket rIver
