I liked Starship Troopers as well, but I wouldn't classify it as a "good" movie. It was good for what it was, a fun, cheesy movie, with awesome special effects. I would also put Big Trouble is Little China in the same category.

Now it's considered one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, and I didn't realized it wasn't well received when it first came out until I watched making of Blade Runner on the Final Cut Blu-Ray. I believe they basically said that the studio try to sell it as a action movie in the previews and the crowd got something else.

Saw, the first one was a legitimately good movie, say what you want about the rest but the first was gripping, exciting, unpredictable
Yeah, this is one movie in particular I wanted to hear about -- horrible reviews, fans liked it -- since I haven't seen it yet I want to make sure it's worth the trouble. Lol, 'the trouble' -- the trouble of streaming it to my computer... for free.
Man, that is one movie I could not stand at all -- the first 30 or so minutes are cool then it just gets really bad.
Agreed. Alot of movies that get panned and hated i often wonder What was your expectation? Too many times Critics go into a movie knowing they want to hate the movie and then . .sure enough they hate it Rocket River
I just rewatched The Fountain today. I don't know if it got terrible reviews. RT has it at 51%. But that is far lower than I'd expect. I love the movie, and don't really understand most of the complaints. And add me to the list of people who enjoyed Event Horizon.
Totally agree on that one. 1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service, mixed reviews by critics, royally hated by many moviegoers, yet as we sit here today, it might arguably be the best Bond movie ever, as far as storyline; plot; cinematography; and action sequences. 2. Howard the Duck, I've watched enough bad made for Syfy (Sci-Fi) Channel movies, along with cheap 80s slashers movies; really bad horror movies from companies such as A-Pix; Full Moon; and Xenon Entertainment; along with a video market over-saturated with lackluster sequels; cheesy monster/slasher movies; cheesy urban romance and ghetto dramas; saccharine kids' movies (like When Zachary Beaver Came to Town and those 3 Ninjas' sequels); . . . Howard the Duck is nowhere near one of the worst films ever made. 3. TRANSFORMERS... the Movie, there are not any words in any human language that can describe how awesome that movie was. 4. Highlander (1986) and it was flop, too. It's A Kind of Magic was an awesome soundtrack, by the way.
That's surprising about the RT score for The Fountain. I always thought that movie was a critic's wet dream. I love the film myself, but I can see how some would think it was too high brow or not understand it.
