If you've paid attention to the China threads that have come up in the last year or so, you'd notice that the "pro-China" camp, MFW included, have actually criticized the Chinese govt, but it just so happens that their concerns and criticisms tend to be totally different from yours, and the things you are concerned about, they don't care so much.
I think it's hilarious how you respond to two-line insults with paragraph upon paragraph of denigrations. It's already clear to me that you'll never see anything wrong with the PRC (not anything substantial - i.e. REAL - anyway) - so, good job. You are now the official apologist for the Chinese government.
What a tastless thread and title. What is there to debate about in the first place? Regardless on how you disagree with MWM's views (and I don't agree with many of his), calling him gay is just childish. I wouldn't even wish this on posters that I strongly disagree with. Admins, this thread should be closed.
Well, I agree with you that this thread is stupid. And what you said is also what I thought when I first saw this thread. But then I found watching idiots flinging poos (whether with words, picture or video) at each other is actually quite entertaining. So I vote this thread to go on.
This question must be for CometsWin. I remember not too long ago he was very upset about a thread because (in his own words) "That's ridiculous. There's nothing to debate about this story." http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4942571&postcount=47 But then he turned around and became an active participant in this thread. Hypocrisy at its finest.
That's not a lame excuse, an example of a "lame excuse" would be the motive behind every country/race/political party/religion bashing thread in the Hangout and GARM Try having some legit criticism, a correct attitude and don't call people things that ironically apply perfectly to yourself, then maybe people will afford you the iNteRENeT respect and benefit of the doubt you so obviously desire.
I'm quite surprised that some are trying to change the meaning of this thread from being one of a good natured wish of good luck to my internet friend MFW to something unseemly. I included the article on the Mr. Gay China pageant only to stimulate discussion on a unique Chinese cultural event.
 If you think it's 'unique', you must have been living in a cave. A simple search found gay pageants had been held in Philippine, Nigeria, Brazil, NYC, Norway...before.
Not exactly. I participated because someone questioned my assertion that there was nothing to debate about the story. It's a distinction that you appear to have missed.
Concern and validity aren't necessary companions. He's been nothing less than an apologist for everything from Tibet to the Olympics to authoritarianism and so on. And really if he wants to be Mr Nationalist, that's fine but he shouldn't pretend it has anything to do with intelligence.
