hello thr.. I am from India.. Chennai, Tamilnadu.. its abt 500 kms away from Coimbatore and u are gonna visit my state.. First the important things.. namely Houston Rockets games.. .. If you are lucky they might air it on one of the 2 sports famous channels.. ESPN and star sports air basketball games 2 days a week ( cricket takes precedence over anything else in India).. If the games fall on one of those days (mostly fridays and saturdays in India) .. u are lucky... but the probability of watching a first round rockets game on TV in India is pretty low.. that leaves us with the Internet.. if are lucky enough to get access to a good Internet line.. u can watch the games online.. but gettin hold of a fast broadband line in India is pretty tough.. unless you stay over in a good hotel.. forget it.. now coming to other stuff.. Coimbatore is a dusty place... but believe me its a good place to visit when compared to other cities in India.. if u get time.. make sure u visit Ooty (a hill station abt 100 kms away from coimbatore).. its a fantastic/beautiful place to relax (thats acc to me.. i dunno american standards for beautiful ) and if u are white.. be careful.. people will definitely try to cheat you.. esp the auto/taxi drivers.. they will try to make a day's living out of you.. (but hey. they try to cheat indians too).. so you gotta be extra careful.. esp with the payments you make.. next.. u won't be infected by plague .. thats an exaggeration.. but be careful about the food.. too much of indian food might wreck your stomach.. (happens to foreigners all the time) .. and the climate would be hot.. but better than other places in the same region.. not much of humidity .. so you are saved.. well .. thats the max i can think of at this point of time.. if you have any doubts on anything abt coimbatore... feel free to ask me via pm or through the forum.. i would be glad to help... have a nice trip!
That's probably true at where you're at but def not the case in Hyderabad, Mumbai and others cities such as Bangalore. Internet cafe's are everywhere and they have pretty good connections. Some places have old computers though so you have to look for cafes with new pc's.
i just bust out laughing at the comments on shiek chili's. The food is great. I also love Aga's on wilcrest and 59 next to the marshalls. good clean place, good price and great food. I would stay the hell away from bhojan, my experience was terrible, food was bland, i can cook better at home. Sabri Nihari like mentioned before is great but a little over priced. If you live by stafford the hindu temple here has a great gift shop with fresh indian (vegi) snacks. Are you looking for anything in particular?
I ate Indian Food recently off 45North going towards Spring (left hand side). It was delicious! I didnt think I would like anything but my Indian friend convinced me to try it. Im hooked on that stuff now. You guys have tortillas too???? You know damn rrrrrright.
i love indian food, just not the smell...like i dont know, i just can't take the smell of the smell...any place where the smell is less?
