I didn't want to be the first one to bring up the London Sizzler since my cousin is married to the owner, but since that's out of the way, London Sizzler rocks!

The sizzler dishes are their specialties, and they're worth the wait. The food can be spicy, so be forewarned!

I'd recommend the chili manchurian or any of the "on puri" dishes as an appetizer ;-)

Himalaya is really really good, if you get it on the right day. Some days it just seems old and some days it's made fresh and there's obviously a huge difference. Also the guy there over charges quite a lot sometimes which irks me, but yeah.

I love Masala Wok. As you can tell by the name, it's an Indian-Chinese cuisine. You can get it to-go and the price isn't bad.

It's truly difficult to find good, authentic Indian food in Houston. Most of it is very cookie-cutter stuff as far as North Indian food goes.

I haven't been too impressed with the Indo-Chinese either (went of 'Bombay to Beijing last week, just so-so).

By the way, if you ever get a chance to go to India, you should ABSOLUTELUY go. Ignore the crap on the first page.

Can never go wrong with India's on Richmond. Taj Grill on HWY 6 is good also.

Yes, very inconsistent though. When on, its the best Pakistani nihari in Houston.

London Sizzler - Overpriced for average food.
Cusine of India in Clear Lake - good food
Mughal in Clear Lake - good food
Bismillah on Hilcroft - Best Indo/Pak ghetto restaurant in Houston
Sabri - I hate it. They drench and overuse oil in every mother luving dish
Indika - Nice fusion of Indian food
Kirans - Really good expensive food
Savoy on Wilcrest - Oldest ghetto Indo/Pak restaurnt in Houston. Really good.
Royal - Wannabe Savoy. It sux.

ever since i first visited london sizzler about a year ago - that is now the only indian restaurant i'll go to.

besides my mom's homecooking (i'm Indian) - london sizzler is the best indian food i've ever had.

the chcken tikka sizzler is my favorite - and i have that every time i go.

Sheikh Chili's is possibly guilty of every single health code violation known to man. Nice to see that Savoy still gets the job done after all these years. Their naan and tandoori or kabab are a mean combo.

I like London Sizzler too. It's in the Indian district so from the outside you expect it to be fobby, but I was shocked at how clean and nice it is on the inside. It's pricey but good.

    That's correct.

Just be prepared for some good old fashioned spicy indo/pak food.

No doubt. But I'm sure places like Bismillah, Shenai, Sabri, Royal aren't winning the Marvin Zindler award for cleanliness either.

There is a veg place in the same strip center as London Sizzler and its pretty damn good.

Bombay Braisseri is always a decent choice for a buffet, but their butter chicken is super buttery.

The greasy places tend to have some damn good food. I wouldn't recommend walking into the kitchen, where the cook wipes the sweat from his brow, and it falls into the saucepan where it simmers.

That's right. Bombay Brasserie on Richmond @ Post Oak next to City Streets was a good spot back in the day.

Precisely. My best friend kept telling me to go there with him for months - but I always refused b/c it was in the Hillcroft area - so I expected it to be fobby/dirty... i finally caved last year and was very pleasantly surprised.

London Sizzler freaking RAWKS, especially when you get there while happy hour is still going on. I ate there two weeks ago. Great as always.

I like Himalaya for Indo-Pak, but the owner is strange.

Bombay Brasserie's lunch buffet is very good.

Savoy is really good but I always get it to go, even though it's a 20 minute drive.

You guys seriously need to try Bismillah on Hilcroft by Harwin. Absolutely the best Indo/Pak food in town.

    Every dish is awesome.

    Chicken or Beef Bihari
    Nihari
    Dal Fry
    Samosas
    Laal Aaloos
Their Shrimp curry is absolutely one of the best dishes ever.

Even their roti is the best.

The owner is kind of a numb nutt though.

Hot Breads which is right next door has some good snacks and breads to take home as well.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Nirvana at Memorial and Dairy Ashford. It's consistently delicious, reasonably priced, and the owners are very nice. I've been craving it everyday since moving to Virginia 7 weeks ago. :(
