Maxwell may have been a bad human being but he was not the face of the team. Hakeem more than made up for his teammate's personality shortcomings with his humility, spirituality, and generosity. If our go to guy was a douchebag or our team was full of douchebags (LA and Boston) then I'd think twice about being such an avid supporter of said team.

    My Dbag team
    Fisher, Rondo
    Kobe, Vujachic
    Kirilinko, Harpring
    KG, Varejao
    Okur, Bynum

If the Rockets brought in players who were very skilled, but they acted like jerks on the floor, they disrespected the opponents and the game, they behaved like they're above everyone else -- none of that matters as long as they win?

I want a team of players I can be proud of. That's what being a fan means, to me. If we want to completely remove the human element and treat these players as parts in a machine where only their performance on the floor matters, then why I should be emotionally invested in that? That's like following a computer simulation or something. At a purely analytical/strategic level, it may be interesting. But as a fan I need more than that.

I don't mind having a young Rasheed Wallace on the team.

Everyone is two sided. It just all depends on which side of the fence you're on. It's hard to like a loser and even harder to hate a winner.

I love the rockets, but I wouldn't mind swapping the entire rockets roster with the lakers.

Nor would I. On this team, his more destructive tendencies can be reigned in. I couldn't stand to follow a team where every player behaved like that.

I don't think that a team that consists mostly of douchebags and knuckleheads can ever win a championships. They would probably end up like the JailBlazers and implode.

What championship teams do you consider are mostly consists of douchebags/knuckles?

    Yankees?
    Celtics?
    Lakers?
    Patriots?

Think of it this way. If the Rockets traded the whole team (including the coach) for the whole Jazz team (including the coach) plus a superstar caliber douchebag (say, Kevin Garnett), and they are contending for the title, would you feel good rooting for them?

Everyone loves a winner except for the fans of the teams the winner crushed.

    Definitely the douchebag champion.

The whole connotation of it inside a loaded question reeks of sour grapes.

“You can call us anything you want. You’re also going to have to call us world champions,” said Cashman, who didn’t join the Steinbrenner family on the stage to accept the World Series trophy.

It's like what this guy said.

Agree with this 100 %. People in their respective cities dont view a douche the same way outsiders do. I'm pretty sure we've had some major asses on our teams over the years, even during championship years, and yet we (or at least I), loved almost all of them. Its like a relationship when you're dating a b****, others can tell, but if she's hot, you'll most likely give her the benefit of the doubt :D

Actually it's the opposite of sour grapes. It's being happy with what we have.

Definitely the douchebag champions. Winning makes it easy to overlook a player's warts. It's all about the trophy.
