Problem is not the coach. Is Jerry Sloan the problem in Utah? You don't need to dump a team for a coach. But when the "leader" of the team has been through all kinds of coaches and still hasn't won a playoff series in his 11th year and is on the downside of his career, you might want to think about dumping that guy and trying something new. The coach is proven. The players are not. Rudy. Since we're declaring certain coaches "hands-off" now, Phil Jackson is DEFINITELY more in that camp. The guy is famous for refusing to call timeouts, choosing to let his players "play through it". This is a PJ trademark. As is sitting on the bench most of the game. Not to mention, Adleman went to the Finals TWICE and lost to better teams both times. Teams with the best players always win, REGARDLESS of the coach. THAT is what it takes to win.
It's definitely possible that he is. Remember - if they don't turn it around this year, that means Utah has had one good season in the past five.
The Lakers barely ran the triangle in his first year. This was widely talked about. He ran basic plays while the players were learning the system, just like Adelman is being forced to do. And you're nuts if you think they ran the triangle whenever they needed a big basket. PJ was "the man" in LA because of Michael Jordan. It was all reputation. Michael Jordan bought into what he was saying and they won as a result. It wasn't because Phil was preaching anything different from most other coaches. Jordan didn't like his previous coach (who was more of a taskmaster, the kind that you supposedly need to win today ), so he embraced Phillip. When he came to LA he immediately had their respect due to championships. They were ready to listen to whatever he had to say.
good coach,and good system,but he doesnt seem like he`s one part of the team like JVG,when the whole team`s going through tough time like now,JVG always played the bad guy in front of the public and took resbonsibility,on the other hand being the good guy that encouraged the guys and always push them as hard as he can,that`s how we used to win game and gained tough defence...and now ppl talking about motivation stuff,well i dont know what the new coach`s done for the team or brought,but obviously he`s not doing a good job and JVG knew better than him how to run this team well,atleast we were not lack of motivation and when YAO said words like that we should know there must be something wrong there,i mean seriously he should have done something before becoming rocket`s coatch and should have done something before we got into that trouble as the rocket coatch!
