The best christian artists are the ones that don't mention God or Jesus or Christianity in any way and sing about regular subjects. Weezer can be a christian group if they said "We're Christian" and didnt curse. Or like some of Creed's songs that are about faith. Or the christian heavy metal where the sound is incoherent to where you can't tell what they're even singing about. I can't tell what most regular death metal is about either, so its all the same. Not downing the groups, to me a good portion of those fit the stereotypical description of "christian music" The artists from 10+ years ago that is.

mewithoutYou is one of the most unique and authentic bands around today, Christian or not. Aaron is amazing. I felt like their first two albums, when he was dealing with suicidal thoughts and existential despair, were a great example of good, soul-quenching spiritual music. Not to mention they were a lot harder in the beginning. The style is not for everyone, but man mwY has affected me so much over the course of my life.
It's great to give praise to God etc. etc. but the whole secular/christian distinction should be abolished. There's good music and bad music. Lots of bad music fall under the category of Christian Music. (Soul and Gospel will always be respected. Viva Al Green, Bebe & Cece Winans, and Jon Gibson) but DC Talk and such are crappier than the Backstreet Boys.

Relient K, Switchfoot, Lifehouse, and Owl City aren't exactly considered Christian artists, but have quite a few Christian songs. His music sits so close to the soul. I can't judge how sincere his lyrics are, but they spoke to me when I was little, and still do to this day. A friend of mine is really into him. I checked out a couple of his songs on Youtube and they were pretty cool.
Note to chubby son of a motherless goat, He said "THIS is no good christian music". Nothing wrong with him not liking the song posted... My favorite Christian song is... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/X13Kb_DktHg?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/X13Kb_DktHg?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
I tried to find my favorites, but this band was always favorite. Most were with Stevie Ray Vaughn, and the two two others: Charlie Sexton, and Doyle Bromhall, in their own right, chose to creat a fantastic album. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wyaztvtDBPw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wyaztvtDBPw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jTj9QQWqLXw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jTj9QQWqLXw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
