I went to Linda's ($5) my whole life until about 2008. Even when I went to Baylor, I would wait to come home and get a cut.

I used to think this too but once you start getting legit cuts, you can never go back to clippers (fades, blends, etc). Jeremy Lin needs to hit up the Galleria

Why anyone spends more than $20 for a haircut is beyond me. :( And even $20 is pushing it, for me... I don't spend more than $15, ever. Maybe 'cuz I'm married? But even BEFORE that, I wouldn't.

WTF is your hair made out of, GOLD?

^Looking good has to stop when you get married? There's no wonder that so many dudes just mail it in after they're married with this type of thinking.

TGF, Supercuts are just blah for me. There are always exceptions to the rule. I'm sure you can find someone that can cut hair but you get average cuts, generally speaking.

How much do you guys tip for a $12-20 cut? I usually tip $5.

But I don't normally tip more than $3 at the cheaper Asian places.

There's a Super Cuts @ Westheimer and Chimney Rock (SW corner, next to 24 Hour Fitness). About 3 minutes from the Galleria, depending on whether that light at Sage and Westheimer is green or red.

Try to go when Silvia's working. Woman can cut some hair like nobody's bidness.

If Silvia isn't there---and you might have a line for her---the rest are pretty good.

HOWEVER: BIG LINE IN THE SAND HERE:

Don't let the Asian women there cut your hair, though. I swear it isn't a racist thing but just trust me. Might be a cultural thing but I don't go for the Vietnamese boy haircut (nor do I go for, ahem, Vietnamese boys).

No, I said that even BEFORE I got married I didn't pay that much. I just paid $6 right now (during lunch cut) and tipped for a total of $10. I look the same now as I did when I was 20. What ever haircut you get won't matter if you know how to pick up the ladies. ;) You get me?

So what kind of boys DO YOU go for?

To each their own. It doesn't matter to some guys because of their hair type. They're limited in terms of trying out different hair styles.

You can tell that I don't get a $5 hair cut. I can guarantee you that. Sure it looks ok after it grows out some but I prefer it to look good from day 1. This is coming from someone that paid that much for basically my whole life until about 5 years ago.

To answer Jontro's question -- $5 is enough. Actually, the dude that cuts my hair pays the salon for the space so technically the full amount goes to him so you don't really have to give anything extra if you don't want to.
