Avery owned himself by saying he doesnt whine about the officiating. LOL. I wanna see the press conference.
Yes, they are the same. I'm not surprised they are getting blown out. The Rockets series was physically and emotionally draining (whether the Mavs want to admit or not), and this was a quick turnaround to the Suns who had a week off to prepare and rest, which is especially good for them since they are a running team. That game 7 gave the Mavs a false bravado yet they didn't have much time to prepare for the Suns. And Barkley was right, the Mavs are an easier opponent for the Suns (as opposed to the Rockets), because they an offensive running team also, not built on D.
This is such sweet revenge for us Rockets fans. I was waiting for this once the Mavs blew us out in Game 7.
It was great how MVP nash carried his team with 40 points and 16 rebounds, wait that was someone else. If there was a MVP for point guards his award would be legit, but no way should he get it overall- and tonight proved it. He's the 3rd best player on his team behind Amare, Marion. Also Dallas doesnt look so good when they arent parading to the ft line 35+ times a game- if the games were called like this in the first round the Rockets would have easily won the series.
"Maybe we can play 6 on 5, maybe that's what it will take to stop them." Avery Johnson, on why he fell on the court.
You have to be kidding me. Nash runs the offense like Cheney runs GWB. Total control. I think the Suns record without Nash is something like 0-5 or 3-8 or something far worse than their normal record. Amare's shooting percentage drops 10-15% down to ~40% when Nash isn't playing. The total points scored in a game by the Suns also drops by like 10-15 points. He is an offensive dynamo. If you want to complain about his defensive prowess, you have a legitamate complaint. And yes, Dallas sucks when they aren't hand-given the games by stupid refs who can't tell where the out of bounds lines start...
We'll see how far MVP nash will take them. I just feel theres no way he should be the most VALUABLE player when he's playing with so much offensive talent. Those records dont mean very much to me- i'm sure they would have done even worse had marion or amare missed significant time. Recall the Rockets blew them out by 30 on their home floor without marion. On another note though, I hope the Spurs put an end to the winner of this series, as I would hate to see either Dallas or Phoenix reach the finals
I find it quite amusing that some of the folks over at mavtalk are crying about the freethrow disparity between Dirk and Amare. Dirk only went to the line once whereas Amare got 17 FT. How does it feel b****es!?!
It is amazing how Dirk's wild forrays to the basket are suddenly no calls against a 'favorite'. Dampier looks worse every minute he is out there. Money well spent, Cuban. I'd rather have a broken down, injured Nash at 35 years old than any Dampier. It's also telling that their freethrow desparity shrinks up against a team that has comparable athleticism.
And the refs called two moving screen fouls on Josh Howard. I guess that's the way the refs want to make Mark cuban shut up. The mavs fans were already b****ing about calls in round one, when they were the one who got all the calls. They are gonna be in shock how many extra free throws the suns will get in this series.
I'll admit that Marion is a very valuable player to the suns, probably as valuable as Nash. Amare, on the other hand, missed like 3 games in the season, and the Suns were 3-0 during that time playing their normal basketball without missing a beat.
Amare better destroy Dallas considering they A) play right into Phoenix's hands and especially B) the Mavs have nobody to match up with him athletically. He will be the difference in that series besides the superior ballhanding of Nash. But that doesn't mean that he is better than Yao, for sure. I would be embarrassed if he didn't torch the Mavs, it's a perfect matchup for him.
