Right about now...Cuban is wishing he had overspent on Nash. Right about now...Cuban is also wishing he never had never met Erick Dampier. Right about now...JVG, if he is watching the game, should be thinking what would it have been like if he had kept Jim Jackson. Right about now...Avery Johnson is about to go crazy...
They just mentioned the oldest player in the Suns is Jim Jackson, he is 34. Oh, boy, he was still young in our team. That is why I think Suns has more potential than Rox has. Rox is just too old, other than the two young stars, there are too many old players. And I believe JVG will continue to bring old players. It pisses me off.
Nash is older than either of our stars. He makes that team go. Without him, that team is not the #1 seed... and as it is, Nash probably only has 3-4 years of this level of ball left in him (and I'm being optimistic... he is always an injury risk). I like our future better... and most experts would agree with that.
Hey... I thought Cubes was a fool for letting him go. You just don't let somebody of his calibur leave as a free agent, for nothing in return. That being said, how long do you think Nash has left to play at this level? Just look at what happened to Cassell this past year (and frankly the enitre Minnesota team). Kidd has also seen age start to catch up w/ his style of play.
Seriously, he deserved the MVP. How long does he have left? How long does any of us have left? As in most long term contracts the player fails to perform optimally later in the contract. SN probably will not, either. But, he is a joy to watch.
I hope you're right, but I think you're wrong regarding the experts. Amare + Joe Johnson + Marion = all young guys with skills Bring in another point guard, fill out the bench so that they actually have a legit rotation, and they're likely competing year-in, year-out for the next 5-7 years. The Rockets have Yao + TMac, but after that the team is not made up of standouts.
Note to Dampier - 7 teams left so technically seven centers left in playoffs (not counting the ones coming off the bench). You are not playing in NBA finals yet, so that does not make you second best by default. You would think he would shut up after embarassing himself and Cuban so far in the playoffs.
How good is Amare!! 33 points, 18 rebounds. Once he hits the 15th footer at ease, noone will be able to guard him. And nash. WOW. Suns are going to be scary for spurs/seattle
Joe Johnson is not guaranteed to be on the suns. They have to pay him big $$ to keep him this summer. It will be interesting to see if they can retain him considering that they will have to shell out the max to Amare soon. As of right now, they have a young nucleus of Richardson, Amare, and Marion. Nash will not last very long and Johnson might very well be signed by someone else. Richardson is not that intimidating. A 3 point specialist with very little else to offer.
i had to go see revenge of the sith right after the game was tied at 65 and nash got his triple double. good to see the suns pulled it out. and amare actually almost got the 20 boards barkley wanted him to get. 34/13/12 for nash, not too shabby coming off a 48 point effort. now drill them in game 6 and let johnson try to get healthy for the spurs.
10/1 Joe J is on the Suns next year. Another team would have to throw a max contract at him for the Suns to considering not matching, and who of the teams under the cap want waste 3 weeks or so only to not get their target. They could always move Richardson for an expiring contract--Joe Johnson is much more valuable, I agree, and the 2nd most important piece (after Amare) to that franchise long term. Heck, they only had the best record in the league, they could not have been that inconsistent. Dallas is only still alive b/c of the Johnson injury. The myth the Suns could not be succesful in the playoffs is close to dead. But they will need Joe J at 85% IMO to take out the Spurs.
I haven't watched more than 60 seconds of a game since the infamous game 7, but I watched the last half last night. I was shocked when I found myself rooting for the Mavs. For some reason, I can't root for the Suns.
