LOL. Tennis by far. Even though I play golf, watching it is like watching bowling to me. Yawn.

Every golf course is different and unique. TV golf courses are usually beautiful landscapes. You could have watched the US Open at Pebble Beach just for the beauty of it alone.

Every tennis court is the same dimensions.

I understand if you don't play golf it seems boring. To me there is nothing more boring than soccer because I never played the game. But if you you do play the game you can appreciate golf for the unbelievable skill level these guys have.

I am not asking you to watch golf, we will be fine with our tiny but rich viewership. But if you want to give it a try (well you missed the best golf in the world last week and the The British Open at St Andrews will look like goat farm in a bad drought), try a match play event where every twosome on the course is playing an elimination match. The drama is a little more immediate than a 72 hole medal play event.

    Tennis is pretty decent.

Golf is only slightly more entertaining than the bore-fest that is soccer.

    This.
Is that Kananaskis? That's what I'm looking forward to most about going to Calgary.

    It depends.

Tennis is about always viewable. I would say that under most circumstances, tournaments on grass or other fast and hard courts are the most boring but there are of course great macthes in about every tournament.

Golf on the other hand can be frustratingly boring or abosulutely the greatest tv sport, particularly if you have some bets going on. For example, I tried to watch the Travelers Championship yesterday but couldn't stay interested very long. Why? The course is stupidly easy (for the pros). Every hole is pretty much the same, drive/3-wood + very short wedge to the green. It usually tells pretty much if 50-something years old Corey Pavin is in the contention. Plus the best players were not playing. Pretty stark contrast to the US Open last week, even if the last round there was pretty underwhelming.

    Wes,

That particular course is The Glacier Club in Durango CO. However I have played Kananaskis and it is awesome. As are the Banff and Jasper courses up the Icefields Parkway. In the Summer you can tee off at 7PM and still finish in the light.

In a sense, they are both like NASCAR.....

You can begin to watch, take a nap, wake up just in time for the most exciting part.....the end.

That being said, I am taking golf. For those who of us who play (or try to, at least), it is pretty admirable what those guys can do on a highly consistent basis. It is far more difficult than tennis IMO.....

I play tennis but even I get bored watching it on TV. my opponents always ask me if I'm keeping up with Wimbledon, the Open , or any big Grand Slams.

I tuned in the other during that epic tennis match but just don't get excited watching pro tennis, or golf for that matter.

tennis doesn't have to be. all you need is a public court, a racket, a can of balls and an opponent.
