For the record, the bird in question is not an endangered species.

Exactly. And not a single member of the crew had the stones to say something?

I think it makes a big difference that he's a professional. I would go easy on an amateur because even though it is intentional, I don't think an amateur would know he could hit the bird. A professional knows or should have known he could hit the bird.

He's an idoit. Let PETA burn him.

I could see myself getting in trouble for something like this, especially when I was younger.

I would never really think things through.

"Hey look! A bird! Let's throw stuff at it!"

    (hits bird, lies motionless)

    "Uh oh."

He probably never thought it was going to hit the bird. And if it did, just scare it.

I think it is hilarious. There should be more news like this.

But if he hit a poodle you'd be crying like a little b**** and holding a candlelight vigil with the rest of the p*****s?

75 yards? Not difficult at all for a pro. They could hit a skinny-ass pin a number of times with line drives at that distance.

Holing it out is more difficult, you need direction and distance to coincide.

I hope the next time this guy yawns, a bird flies overhead and drops a deuce in his mouth.

Would Vick be in as much trouble if he took aim at a bird during practice and drilled a football at it killing it? I don't think so IMO. He would get in trouble for killing a bird, and being an idiot. But what Vick did was finance and participate in an illegal dog fighting ring which I believe is considered organized crime.

Also, dogs have personality. :) People just need to get used to the idea that our society loves dogs.

I remember when I was in seventh grade, two friends and I were in my friend's backyard, tossing the ol' pigskin around. One of my friends (who went on to be a starting QB at Texas Tech) sat there holding the ball looking at the ground. We were yelling at him to throw the ball to us when he all of the sudden through the ball directly at the ground. All I saw were feathers everywhere and he immediately began to cry. "He was supposed to fly away!" he kept yelling. I've always thought that the spirits of Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David were in that backyard that day because my friend sure did sound an awful lot like George a few years later with the pigeons.

He was certainly trying to hit it, and he could probably drop 10 out of 10 balls inside of 10' from the bird at 75 yards, but there is now way in helll he could have thought he could hit it solidly enough to kill it. Hit it anywhere in the feathers and the bird flys off.

So, reckless endangerment, sure; negligent homicide, probably; premeditated murder, probably not. The knucklehead did the crime so he has to do the time; a fine and community service at an animal shelter is probaly about right.

I had two sqwaking red hwaks 300 feet over me on the range at Wilcat last week, they really weren't that annoying. Remember when CBS was accused of actually adding bird calls to their coverage of the Masters? And then all the golf video games started adding bird sounds.

moestavern is a known dog hater. Now it looks like he is actually just an animal hater & thinks its funny when innocent creatures die. I'm pretty sure he'll be a serial killer one day.
