Looks like he got nailed 25K for opening his mouth to the public a couple weeks ago. http://www.nba.com/2009/news/09/15/jackson.fine/index.html NEW YORK (AP) -- -- Golden State's Stephen Jackson was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Tuesday for saying he wanted to be traded. Jackson, who averaged a team-best 20.7 points per game last season, told Dime Magazine last month that he wanted out and had told the Warriors front office as much. Players are not permitted to make trade requests publicly. Ron Artest, then of the Indiana Pacers, was fined during the 2005-06 season for requesting a trade through the media. Shortly after Jackson's comments were made public, Warriors general manager Larry Riley said he still considered the swingman a key part of the team. In 2007, Kobe Bryant, in separate interviews with ESPN Radio in New York and the Los Angeles Times, demanded to be traded by the Lakers, and was not fined by the league. However, a league spokesman said Tuesday night that because Bryant recanted his request to other media outlets the same day, the league decided at that time not to fine him. Bryant subsequently eased off of his trade request and the Lakers didn't find anything even remotely interesting for them in a possible trade for Bryant, who went on to win the NBA's Most Valuable Player award in 2008. TNT's David Aldridge contributed to this report
This seems like the type of thing that would be handled by the team. I don't consider publicly requesting a trade worthy of a fine from the league.
i think it should be the opposite. stern should have fined tmac last season for going public with words that kept him from being traded
