What's the big deal about Belinelli? He had a few high scoring games in summer league, and people think he's a star in the making?

yeah, they also look pretty similar to those of rudy fernandez. you know, the guy that morey wanted to draft and would love to have on the team right now.

i don't really get your point. all i'm saying is:

    1. the raptors got him for nothing and thus he's automatically an upgrade.
    2. he's a very young player that has lived up to any reasonable expectations so far.
    3. european players, especially young ones, tend to need some time to develop into decent nba players.
    4. a lot of european players begin their nba career as one dimensional players.

it's not like peja, hedo or rudy came in as made players. belinelli is certainly not on their talent level, but come on, people here claimed he's already a bust and will be out of the league by the end of his contract.

and concerning von wafer. if morey's metrics show that the rockets would have been equally successful last season without von wafer they are plain and simple wrong. (remember: i'm not on wafer's bandwagon like dd and think he can develop into the next tracy mcgrady...)

one dimensional specialists who are very good at what they can do and do know what they can't are the best role players you can get for a contending team. it's probably a little different for lottery and borderline playoff teams, though.

there really is no big deal about him. he's a young player who had a decent nba career so far and who might develop into a solid rotation player or maybe even starter for a bad team. that's all.

pssh, no one is claming he's a star in the making. The raptors filled a position they needed to fill with a promising young player, and all they gave up was DEVAN ****ing GEORGE.

to be on the raptors, they have to be able to trace all your ancestors back to the old country.

This isn't a season changing trade, but you really have to love it for the Raptors. Traded an older player who wouldn't even see the court for them for a young guy who shoots lights out and has showed atleast some flashes.

Just imagine if the Rockets made this deal, except it was Brian Cook instead of George, how excited would we be? And I would say Cook is probably better George.

He was solid off the bench last year for GS. Put it this way: would you trade Von Wafer for Greg Buckner?

You guys are missing the real point here. KG gets to bark at this guy 4 times a year now. Clearly this move was manufactured by the NBA (or G) to get more shots of Garnett styled intensity.

You pencil in a Gordan Giricek/Juan Carlos Navarro type into your lineup and you'd be ecstatic too!

Belinelli is a good analogy to the Von Wafer situation. Young player who excites the fans of his team with his aesthetically pleasing style of play. While around the league his play doesnt register much of a blip on anyone's radar.
