What were the Warriors thinking? For the people who says he sucks, he doesn't suck. The Warriors just suck at developing their young prospects , and Nellie not playing his young players. The Warriors will regret trading him for nothing. I understand they have Curry and Morrow, but at least get a pick for him at least.

Nellie plays alot young players last year, Belinelli is just not his style. Nellie ball is all about mismatches, Belinelli's body-type just not good enough to create mismatch.

With Curry and Ellis playing the guard positions, this was inevitable. Let's see how Euro-ball fares in the NBA.

The real story here is that Devean George is still in the NBA. I had no idea.

Damn wish we could have traded for him. This kid has alot of potential. He's a great all around player that would be a perfect fit in our offense.

Am I missing something here? I know Belinelli hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire here, but do you really trade your 23-year-old former top 20 pick from two years ago for Devean freaking George?

I guess you do if your motivation is to save a few bucks because otherwise there's absolutely no upside in this deal for GS.

How much money are they really saving though? I don't get it. There has to be more to this.

If that were the case Wright would've been traded earlier on. Belinelli is italian for bust.

Not much. George's deal expires after this year so I am assuming that's the motivation for GS behind this deal. Agreed that there's definitely gotta be something more to this.

Belinelli has a team option for next year, so hes basically an expiring contract. I'm guessing Toronto sent over some cash to cover Georges contract, so the warriors will save some more money this year. Nice catch for the raptors, Belinelli has some talent, he had a nice 15 game stretch last year when he actually got playing time, but never regained that playing time after he got injured. This was probably a salary dump, since Belinelli was never going to get any playing time behind all of the warriors wing players.

Collangelo is obsessed with bringing Euro's into Toronto. First he assumes they don't have the negative connotation of Canada that American players seem to possess. So he feels they will stay long term. Second he likes the team oriented uptempo style. You know the style, the one that works in the regular season then gets shut down when it counts...

belinelli is not a bust. he's a 22 year old euro that averaged 9 ppg while having good shooting percentages (44 % fgs, 39 % 3ps) in his 2nd year. i think that's pretty much the optimum for this type of player and situation.

the uptempo style is probably the best style suited for a team with limited talent. and let's be realistic here neither have the raptors too much talent nor do they have a real franchise player that could be their go-to-guy in a decent half-court offense.

so, what do you expect them to do? there aren't to many lebrons, howards or wades available. and those who are really don't want to play in canada.

plus, you do realize the rockets do basically the same thing because they are in a somewhat similar situation? :(

You just don't give something away for nothing. I'm going to have to trust the Warriors on this one and say Bellinelli is not that good.

They had too many talented scoring SGs to count. It was going to happen sooner or later. Lets see... they have Anthony Morrow who can shoot lights out they just drafted Stephen Curry, Monte Ellis is still there, Stephen Jackson plays some 2, Azuibuke is doing pretty good at SG. That's 5 players ahead of him on the pecking order. And you know how weird NelliBall is... with usually 8 players playing all year. Basically Belinelli couldn't get off the bench. This would have been a steal for the Rockets. He could have competed, wait we don't have anyone there... He could have been our SG. We let this one slip away. If Portland isn't willing to give up Fernandez this would have been a great alternative.

Those numbers look very similar...actually, exactly the same as Von Wafer. You know, the guy Morey only wanted to sign for the minimum.

I'm going to take a guess and say that the metrics show that this type of player, poor defensive one dimensional scorer (high percentage or not), does not have a great impact on team success. With some good ball movement the team, any team, can do just as good or better without this type of player. Players that bring other things (rebounding, defense, playmaking, intangibles, etc.) are a better value.
