Tell me about it. The Warriors laid a big egg. Something was wrong with them. Denver brought the effort and intensity mid-4th quarter and took control. The Warriors got sloppy and lazy on offense. The Nugs played like their season was on the line when they pulled ahead for good. I thought the opposite would happen.
You want to talk about the $64,000 question, there it is. Honestly, it depends on whom you talk to. Some Nugs fans feel that Nene is a crucial part of our team. Others feel he's a bum. I'm in the middle. I think he's a good player who, when he's on, can be unstoppable (see last season's playoffs against SA). Even if you think he's a bum, it still hurt us because we were forced to play small a few times when we shouldn't have (and watching Kleiza play D is painful). I tell you though, almost every Nugs fan enjoyed reading the Sports Guy's article where he talked about how the Nugs stayed healthy all year. Yeah Bill, we only lost our starting PF and PG (Atkins) for damn near the entire season. If Nene can get in shape to play 15-20 minutes a night in the playoffs, it will help the Nugs incredibly... especially considering it's most likely we play SA, NO or LAL in the first round... all teams with decent front lines. The fact that they're bats**t crazy. Honestly, that's the only explenation. You've got jackasses like Camby who only show up 5 games of the year and spend most of their time trying to block shots instead of playing straight up D. You've got Melo who fades in and out on effort there, and you've got AI who gambles quite a bit. That leaves Carter and K-Mart, who are both damn good defenders, as the only two that I can count on to not cause me to drink heavily (add Najera to the group if we're talking bench players). I'm not allowed to talk about LK's defense either.
Not wanting to beat the dead horse (Nene) again, but what will it take for you to realize he is indeed an overpaid bum who has neither the work ethic nor mentality to play consistently good? Another disappointing season next year? The guy just doesn't have the make-up to perform over a long-haul NBA season and playoffs.
