ONe thing that has not been considered is that with Antwan, GS is a very bad team. But are they bad enough? Next years draft holds a couple of potential franchise players. Maybe they just want to suck really bad. ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
While, if it was anyone other than oily pee starting this rumor, I'd call them crazy, but I'd say there's also a chance GS thinks Jamison will be another Danny Manning, or Larry Johnson. He's also pretty certain to be their SF, something he's not completely apt to do. While if he was on the Rockets, before we're all hypocrites, a tandem of Mo-Jamison would work IMO. Mo has at least a little bit of range, and Jamison could cover up his rebounding. We also have the ability to go to 3 guard sets if there's a quick SF tormenting us. In Golden State, Fortson, and Foyle are both pretty useless outside 3 feet. I will now wait quietly for this thread to die, or to come to life. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. ...come on, come on ... what has jamison proven so far and dampier is just ok. would we really want to give up walt for a three/four who hasn't proven he can shoot the outside ball, and trade three solid backups plus a pick for a ok player in dampier. i know we need to trim the roster, and drew and los are the two most likely to be traded .... but williams is our most complete small foward. i like this guy and think he could put up solid numbers if he was more involved in the offense. set some screens and pass him the ball ... don't kick it out to him on the three point line with only 3seconds left on the shot clock. you guys know this always happened ... we spent to much time dribbling the ball betwen are legs wearing down the clock only to get a rushed shot. pass the ball pass the ball, make the defense have to move and whoever ends up open gets the shot ... a good look at the basket ... come on we all know its true. jamison has potential, but isn't worth lossing the wizzard ... trade drew, los and bull if you have too, but not the wizzard
Who would you rather have, unproven Curry or Troy Murphy? ------------------ Hack a Shaq you'll be winning Hack-him you'll be dreaming.
Are you all insane to think that this may still be a possibility. Usually when trades leak; they've gone bust and a lot of teams do that to see if other teams up the antee. Teams discuss trades year round 95% of them are pure talk. I do not disagree that some talks could have happened but this is normal procedures of the NBA; not necessarily bringing on a real trade!!!! Jamison is a franchise player himself. In college he outplayed Vince Carter. Jamison still has game and can be a huge asset to any team. He could help the Rockets with his rebounding and enforcing the paint from the outside position. But is Jamison what this team needs? He plays inside the 3 pt line which equall closing the driving lanes to Mobley and Francis. Which would decrease the effectibility of Mobley and Francis. Taylor was the right guy for this team because of how he plays the game and from where!! This team is building on the fact to open up the driving lanes!! This offense will become as predictable as the Hakeem throw it in and out and back to Hakeem Dream Shake!! Francis, Taylor, and Mobley require enough offense to satisfy this team and themselves. Each score in range of 17-23 points a game. Add Jamison and you start getting into the argument that there are not enough balls on this team!!! Williams is good enough because he can play point forward and he can dish the ball into Francis when he is cutting into the basket. I like Jamison, but those trade talks are likely over!! Deal with Williams as your SF, he's the safest bet, and he isn't that bad!!!! ------------------ The guns are cocked and the soldiers are in place, it's time to march and let the battles decide the war.
True, true. Oeilpere's followup to someone "in the loop" (my quotes) at Rox Central makes me wonder if something's going on, though. The only way I see a deal going down is through the involvement of one or two other teams. I'm not going to dwell too much on Rockets possibilities; but, as I see it, we can't really match salaries straight up in a GS-Hou trade. Maybe if we sent #1 picks to GS (no Cato), Jamison and Dampier went to Chicago, and Chicago sent some back-up center to GS, and so on and so forth. Or get the Clippers involved somehow. One of those complicated four-team menage à quatre (is that how you spell four in French? been awhile since I studied the language, and forgot most.) As we stand now, we have a good shot at the playoffs. If Walt continues as before. Why wouldn't a straight-up trade work? 1. Golden State doesn't need a point guard. 2. Jamison's a top-5 pick, potential franchise player. 3. We need Cato. Without him, only Dream to block shots---and he's gone in a year. (Of course, we trade shot-blocking for rebounding). Why would it work? 1. Er, uh... As I said, another team (or other teams) would have to be involved, I think. But since I can only envision a 4-team trade involving Houston, LAC, Chicago, and GS, I'll just keep a lid on it. Too complicated. We all know how many 3-team and 4-team trades go down. Even without another trade, we should do well. But I wouldn't mind the Rox pulling another hat trick. And I wouldn't be surprised if they manage. Clearing cap space is necessary. Chicago can assist in that respect, but who knows what the Bulls can or will do after their their fruitless off-season? Wonder if Oeilpere went out of town for Labor Day and left his computer behind. Way, way behind. Clutch, too. Both seem mum on this subject now. ------------------
rocket jjang.... on curry or murphy????????? i see murphy as a doleac, garrity, bullard type player in the pro's. i watched the usa select team play our olympic team last night and murphy proved he can shoot the 15-20 footer ... he rebounded ok but defensively he's a liability. as for curry, i'm assuming we are talking about the high schooler nicked name baby shaq. haven't seen him play, some reports list him at the powerfoward position ... soft hands, rebounds and has all around good skills. these are just reports i would like to see him in action but without that i think i would still take a blind chance a say curry will be the better nba player and if i had a chance to pick between him and murphy ... i would go with curry. ------------------
No Team in the NBA could complete half of the trades they talk about. But, a trade has never been completed, without talking about it first. The reality here, is that eye popper, has given us a glimpse of some possibilities. As always, it has generated alot of interest. With only the Olympic warmups to fill the void, this thread is right on time. If the trade comes to pass, or not, Thanks OP. ------------------ "Never give a sucker an even break. warrior fan here I'm sorry but gary st.jean has already made it clear that Jamison and Hughes are the Warriors franchise, and are untradable players. Your false rumor is hillarious though! Kelvin Cato and Junk for Jamison and Damp?? LOL!!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by warrior (edited September 03, 2000).] [This message has been edited by warrior (edited September 03, 2000).]
Warrior - Good point. What a laughable rumor - how could anyone think the Warriors would ever trade a franchise player in exchange for garbage? I mean, that was great when the Boston Red Sox Warrior-ed Jeff Bagwell to the Astros, and when the Blazers Warrior-ed Clyde Drexler to us. But I hardly think the Warriors themselves would ever Warrior us a player when they have such a solid history of personnel moves. Do you live in the bay area? I do. You will recognize me at the Arena because I will be the other person at the games. . . CBFC ------------------ [This message has been edited by CBrownFanClub (edited September 03, 2000).]
Since you're such a knowledgeable Bay Area fan, CBrown, then you know all of those legendary trades were under previous GMs except for Sprewell, who (in case you've forgotten) had tried to strangle the coach. You probably also know that just 6 months ago, the current GM stole a potential franchise player (Hughes) from right under the nose of Jerry "MJ won me all those rings, I must be a genius" Krause. Compare the current GS roster to the days when it was mired with Feltons and Bimbos, and it's obvious that St. Jean has made several good trades that separate him from bozos like his predecessor (Dave Twardzik). Basing trade speculation on the assumption that the other team's GM is stupid is fine entertainment ... for fans who are equally stupid, anyway. ------------------
That's the whole point!!!To be honest I haven't seen Curry play at all since he is a high school kid. On the other hand I've seen quite a bit of Troy Murphy to know him. Even though I haven't seen Curry play, his potential(the way I hear it) is too good to pass over. If you apply this logic to Antwan situation then well, you get the point. Antwan may not be the most proven product in the game but he has a star potential which will raise his trade value considerably. Therefore GS could do much better than the scrubs Rockets' are offering, beside Cato that is. ------------------ Hack a Shaq you'll be winning Hack-him you'll be dreaming.
swopa- this is all a scam, so when walt williams continues to suck they can then say "don't blame rudy for not knowing williams sucks- the warriors were going to trade jamison for him" ------------------
Is this the same GM who traded away the draft rights for Vince Carter, for the right to Antawn Jamison? And GAVE cash? hahahahahahahahahahahaha ------------------
Jerry Krause is the Bulls GM. When did they have Hughes ? ------------------ "The road to hell is paved with Republicans."
They could've had Hughes for Kukoc - but because Krause is an idiot he decided to take a draft pick instead of Hughes. Good choice Krause - really! ------------------
As Dr. N notes, the Bulls were part of the 3-way deal that sent Hughes to GS and Kukoc to the 76ers. They could have just taken Hughes directly, but they were so in love with getting cap room for this summer that they sent Hughes and Billy Owens (representing $4 million in contracts past this year) on to GS for John Starks and the #7 pick in the draft. Now we can all see how much that cap room got them, and how much of a blunder they made in passing up Hughes. To Sam Cassell, I'll just note that Toronto would have taken Carter at #4 if there was no trade (do you really think they drafted Jamison, then waited a half hour and said, "No, wait, we want Carter"?). Also, it seems like Houston fans aren't in a good position to nitpick over other teams' questionable moves. If I was a smack-talking idiot, I could say that the Rockets will trade Steve Francis to GS for Adam Keefe -- after all, they were the morons who signed Scottie Pippen for $14 million/year (talk about wasted cash) and then gift-wrapped him to Portland for Kelvin Cato and Walt Williams. (You might even say that "Pippened" is a better verb than "Warriored.") Fortunately, though, I don't believe in that kind of ridiculous smack. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Swopa (edited September 03, 2000).]
ya CBrown, i live in the bay area. If you got to any A's games, we could be the only one's there also!! BTW- If ur an a's fan, dont u think this looks like miguel tejada?? ------------------
