Who ever asked about oeilpere's identity: 'oeil' means eye in French 'pere' means father in French. Vas-te faire enculez means that this trade will probably not go down. ------------------
Mais c'est possible.....Peut etre Golden State se-prepare pour Webber? It's possible, but as a lot of u guys said, it's too much in favour of Houston......If Houston hadn't signed Mo, I'd be sold...... Cato's more valuable than we think....he can start for them....Drew may be compensation for them trading away mookie?(see Vonteego Cummings)...and Walt to start in place of the departed 'Twan? The only problem I see, is how a Franchise player becomes a role player....How much rock is there to go around for Francis, Cuttino, Hakeem, 'Twan, AND MO...... Sounds great, but I don't think HOUSTON would do this cause we have too many scorers.....and don't tell me about Portland, they're all experienced, and are willing to lose some time and shots to get rings....But OUR guys are young and want as many shots and minutes as possible...... Oh, and just for everyone to know, Dampier is defensively better than Cato (what we need), and as limited as Cato offensively....So we're basically improving....PLUS, Dampier's a month younger LOL ------------------
Obviously, Golden state is trying to get as much cap space for Mr. Webbers service, but if they're asking for Cato and Wiz, I would rather keep Wiz And Cato. First of all Cato is still capable of becoming one of the greatest center in the league and Wiz Can explode on the floor and can knock that "3" without hesitation. ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
This has to be the funniest topic ever. Im going to sit back and laugh at all these funny posts. We will bring this topic up later in the year when Cato is ****ing around. ------------------ "I talked about what degenerates they [Mets fans] were, and they proved me right. If this were anyone else's thread besides OP's, I wouldn't even read it let alone post. Here are somethings I found interesting: 1) Whether true or BS, GS has added Danny Fortson. If you think he's the SF be reminded he has taken even fewer career 3's than Antawn. 3)GS was 12-35 with AJ and 7-26 with Hughes. Maybe they see more upside in Hughes. 3) After Dampier completely returned from injury, GS was 2 and 3 with Jamison and Dampier in the lineup. 4) NIKEstrad has done his (our) homework and the numbers only match in the deal for Walt+Bryce+'Los+part of exception. Cato could not be included in this deal. 5) If there is some backdoor way to include Collier, the basic deal is 'Los + Collier for Dampier and Walt + Bryce for Jamison. 6) Potential starting lineup 5 Dream 4 Mo 3 AJ 2 Shandon 1 Steve Is there enough ball to around? I say "yes". Dream and Shandon will get theirs in the flow. 7) Potential second unit 5 Cato/Dampier 4 KT/Cato 3 Langhi (Bull?) 2 Cuttino 1 Moochie Is there enough ball to go around? I again say "yes"! I can't see this happening, but if we do NOT lose Cato I say DO IT! ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited September 01, 2000).] [This message has been edited by GATER (edited September 01, 2000).]
What if Collier were cut and went through the waiver process. How would that be effected by the Dec 15 trade restriction? How does the waiver wire work? Doesn't it start at the bottom (team w/ worst record) and go from there. Why would Golden State trade Jamison a franchise like player for 3scrubs (Drew,Rogers,Walt) And just think how crowded the block would be with Jamison and Taylor on the same team. I don't believe this trade for 1 second. Another thing is how will Cuttino get his minutes with Jamison at the 3 and Anderson "starting". Made up rumors are not cool. Not cool at all.

this trade kinda reminds me of the barkley trade for some reason. a proven superstar (and even future hall of famer) for 2 scrubs and potential stars. but still, as much as i'd like to believe this (and god knows i hope it goes down) i really dont see golden state making this. not even to clear capspace. unless chris webber is tripping on acid, he isnt going to golden state, theyre a sorry franchise and nowhere near contending and webber wants to sign with a contender. other than that i dont see gs making it, unless, like someone said, they see some mad basketball potential no one else in houston is seeing (highly unlikely). hopefully ill eat my words for saying this, but i think someone is just pulling oeilpere's leg. ------------------ you are to be praised by gods and revered as women.
Lil Francis, The rumor does sound outlandish, I must admit. But oeilpere is not the kind to make up a rumor. Trust me on that. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com 4th Friday of August= Rocket Day 1999-Steve Francis 2000-Maurice Taylor
A Little Mathematics If the following theory holds true through time -- Bryce Drew + Walt Williams + Carlos Rogers + Lotto Pick + Cash = Antawn Jamison + Erick Dampier We can the assume Golden States starting lineup to contain the following elements -- PF = Fortson SF = Williams C = Foyle SG = Hughes PG = Blaylock Not impressive in the least but then again, Williams does provide much needed offensive punch to the Warriors frontcourt while Drew can provide offense and consistency off the bench and Rogers energy. The key to this deal in my eyes, though, lies in the acquisition of our draft picks. I would imagine it'd take at least unconditional (ours) -- I could almost see GS wanting the Milwaukee pick as well. Golden State would then have a lotto pick (their own) and two more mid range picks with which to package with perhaps another player for another lotto pick. With Jamison gone, Hughes would become the man, free take the lion's share of shots. Golden State would rebuild around him (which they seem to be doing, anyways). Certainly this is stretching reality to fit the rumor but its not entirely far fetched. ------------------ It doesn't matter if I have a signature!
you know, if jamison didnt provide a scoring punch, then what the hell is walt going to provide for them except maybe some streaky 3 point shooting?? (dont get me wrong, i love walt, but he's no jamison) ------------------ you are to be praised by gods and revered as women.
I have been monitoring a Warriors BBS and most there oppose the original trade. Some have said they would be in favor of Cato = Mookie + Damp. A small minority of posters wouldn't mind moving AJ because of the lack of an outside shot and questions about his physical health. The point raised earlier about the draft pick(s) would be the key to this deal. How much in the way of draft picks would cool the ardor of many for the orginal trade idea? Mango ------------------ 1. Well, at least nearly all of you have figured out how ridiculous this supposed deal is. Unless Garry St. Jean has decided that he wants to leave his mark in the pantheon of horrific trades made by previous Warriors GMs -- and this would be up there with any of them! -- it'll never happen. But that doesn't mean the Oily One is passing along bogus information. Remember, he cited the conversation in the context of an OFFER made by the Rockets! Here's how it goes down: The narrowest definition of the Rockets' long-term core would be Francis at PG, Mobley/Anderson at SG, and Taylor at PF. That leaves possible room for upgrading at SF and C. So, like any good front office, the Rocks scan the rosters of other teams for players who might represent an upgrade and could be remotely "gettable" (especially rare at the C spot, hence the value of even largely unproven talents like Jermaine O'Neal and Brad Miller). So, a conversation with Garry St. Jean (or someone) at GS goes something like this ... Rudy T./CD/Whoever: Y'know, we like a couple of guys on your roster. St. Jean: Really? That's nice. Who? Rudy T./CD/Whoever: Antawn Jamison and Erick Dampier. St. Jean: Well, that's a great compliment. It's swell that you like them. Who do you have that you might offer for one or both of them? Rudy T./CD/Whoever: Oh, I dunno ... Bryce Drew? Carlos Rogers? Walt Williams? All those and one of our centers, maybe a first-round pick next year? St. Jean: (muffled snickering) Hang on a moment. (unintelligible whispering, followed by riotous laughter from multiple persons; only the word "Twardzik" can be made out) Y'know, that's a real thought-provoking idea. We'll keep it in mind and get back to you if we want to pursue it, OK? Rudy T./CD/Whoever: Y'know, we were polite when you asked about Steve Francis a while back. St. Jean: OK, OK, I'm sorry. We'll talk later, OK? And there you have it. Just from looking at the names, it's clearly a "wish list" of Warriors players matched up with a list of obvious Rockets trade bait. Probably every team in the league has sounded out every other team with similar dual lists (cf. the Knicks offering Larry Johnson for Brian Grant, or Chris Childs for Danny Fortson). Doesn't mean it's a "deal" under consideration, just one team's view of what they know they want & what they know they're willing to give up. As to the guy who didn't want to talk about Dampier: Of course the Rockets have tried to assess him. As I said before, the list of legitimately-sized centers who are "gettable" by even the furthest stretch of rumors/imagination is extremely short. But again, even that is based more on wishful thinking than the center actually being placed on the trading block by his team. If you want to assess what a truly fair trade would be, remember this: Dampier has more demonstrated ability than Jermaine O'Neal, but the Blazers had their choice of at least one top-7 lottery pick (from the Bulls) or an All-Star PF (Dale Davis). So Dampier isn't likely to go anywhere for scrubs like the Rockets are apparently willing to offer ... and that's even before you add Jamison to the picture. (Incidentally, to the genius who said that Dampier "only played 71 games the last 2 years" ... due to the lockout, teams only played 50 games in '98-'99, and Damp played in ALL 50.) ------------------ [This message has been edited by Swopa (edited September 02, 2000).]
Oeilpere, You mentioned that if the trade worked out, that the Rockets might send Dampier in a package somewhere else. Are the Rockets still interested in Brad Miller? What sort of package would you speculate the Rockets sending & for whom in return or am I way off? ------------------
Funny stuff Swopa... Man I love AJ's game a lot, but it boggles the mind to think that GS would even consider this trade. Nothing but goodies for the Rockets, and lumps of coal for the Warriors. ------------------
For those of you thinking Golden State is getting rid of Antawn to clear up cap space to for Webber next year, help me out with the following : I am going to basically give away my franchise player at the SF/PF position so I can get a franchise player at the C/PF position. Why would I do that? So I can have the opportunity to fail in acquiring him like Chicago did plus end up losing my existing franchise player for Cato + bench players (Walt's final 20 or games notwithstanding)? I see this proposed trade and think to myself, "Somebody upstairs must just love Rudy because He's been handing him for the past 2 summers". This trade is one of those that are too good to be true, but I'll believe it when I see it, of course. ------------------ Falk that Mo Fo!!!
