I'd like to keep Pig, but he is a free agent and not likely to be signed. ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
I would be so static if we was to get Jamison.. OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!! this would be one heck of a team !!!! think about it guys ! Please, please, please get this guy .. last yr. he avg. 19.6 ppg / 8.3 rbs per game , he is 6'9 and weights 223lbs. and is only 24 yrs old.. talk about having a young team ! the only negative is that he did have a bad injury that caused him to miss most of last season... this are his NBA 1999/2000 season notes: Expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left knee on 2/22 - Placed on the injured list on 2/25 Recorded 33 points and a career-high 21 rebounds in a 117-103 loss in Dallas on 1/25 Posted a career-high 37 points (11-12 FT) and snared 18 boards in a 115-103 win over Cleveland on 1/21 Logged 32 points and 9 boards in a 113-100 win over Orlando on 1/17 Totaled 28 points and 14 rebounds in a 109-102 loss to Dallas on 1/11 Recorded a team-high 26 points (10-16 FG) in a 113-92 loss in Philadelphia on 1/5 Tallied 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 113-106 loss in Charlotte on 12/8 Notched 25 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in an 89-83 loss to New York on 12/7 Posted 25 points and 9 rebounds in a 106-88 loss to Toronto on 11/27 Scored a game-high 27 points in a 111-108 loss in Seattle on 11/17 Totaled a team-high 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 103-95 loss to Houston on 11/13 Tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 120-97 loss to Dallas on 11/6 Registered 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 104-81 loss at San Antonio on 11/4 ------------------ Life moves pretty fast, If you don't stop and look once in a while you might miss it!! ... Though this trade would be great for us, I hope we dont give up Cato because that would leave a huge hole at Center. I think we should do our best to use some, if not all of the exception. If we could keep this line-up that would be awesome... C-Hakeem/Cato PF-Taylor/Thomas SF-Jamison/Langhi SG-Anderson/Mobley PG-Franics/Norris we would be playoff bound for sure, no doubt about it.
I would give up Cato, we would still have Dampier. Can Dampier catch? Because, Cato can't. We can get a Center next year, after Dream retires. DaDakota ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
I wouldn't do this deal if it involved Cato. You can confirm this with Van Chancellor, but defense wins championships. Jamison, Mashburn, Fizer...they're all the same type of player to me -- not impressive, especially on defense. Houston should focus on trading Williams for a defense-minded SF. ------------------ Forget regrets or life is yours to miss.
I am sick of hearing how certain young, explosive, athletic guys (Mo Taylor, A.J., KT) "can't play defense". BullSheeeet. They CAN play defense if they are properly motivated, taught well, and placed in the right defensive scheme. ------------------ "There is no controlling legal authority", - Al Gore, upon discovery that he clearly broke campaign fundraising laws.
Dakota, Dampier has had severe injury problems over the last couple of years and if Dream and Dampier go out, who will there be to play center? If we wait for next year, there is no guarantee that we will get a really good center like Cato is capable of playing. Over the last two years, Dampier has only played 71 games. It should be possible to keep Cato and hand them the trade exemption. Anybody know how these salaries match up?
Where are the benefits for the Warriors? Are they that desperate to get rid of Dampier's coontract? I'm guessing that it has to be Cato. To me, he could be seen as a Dampier clone only with a bigger upside. For them, Kelvin Cato would the biggest plus in this trade. Other than that, why would they want the other guys? Sure, all are decent players but none have star potential. Some of you say that you wouldn't do this trade simply because of the chemistry the guys have developed, but certainly this point is not seen by GS. Why would they do it? Maybe they see potential that I don't. Maybe they think Walt will follow his hot streak next season. Maybe they think that Bryce can finally start for them. Does anyone have an idea? ------------------ Nederland 2002 Qualifying Campaign (Damn those penalties!!!) Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone. We're that and more!
Cato can block shots. He can't play defense. Don't mix them up. ------------------ Nederland 2002 Qualifying Campaign (Damn those penalties!!!) Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone. We're that and more!
I am just wondering if anybody from GS reads the ecstatic reactions on this board and starts getting second thoughts about the deal. That's if there is any truth to the rumors. Anyway, I think it would be fantastic. Ace mentioned yesterday that Collier cannot be traded before December, though. Can anyone shed some light on that?? Thanks.
I can't believe that so may people are considering Cato a stumbling block to complete this deal Even if he actually is the mysterious center in question, the deal is incredibly lopsided in the Rockets' favor. Jamison is a potential all-star and Dampier isn't that bad of a replacement for Cato. Here's a mathematical formula to put things in perspective: Franchise player > Role player The tricky part for the Rockets' management would be (I say "would", instead of "will", because I can't believe that Golden State is this stupid) to try and not begin hysterically laughing at the idiocy of Golden State, before the contracts are signed. ------------------
Rocket's centers, Could this be Tyrone Washington or Vinson Hamilton? Rockets centers implies more than one that are about the same salary value. I hated watching Jamison in college, but that is a sign of respect! ------------------ "You've got 6 fouls, use them well" -Derrick Coleman
"Cato can block shots. He can't play defense. Don't mix them up." Blocking your opponent's shot is playing defense. ------------------ Forget regrets or life is yours to miss.
Pops: You forgot to mention that the trade exception would be included in the deal. That has to be the selling point from Golden State's perspective. I'd bet good money that the center is Cato. $4.5+Cato for Jamison+Dampier is still tremendously lopsided in our favor, but atleast it looks a little more respectable. As for Dampier, if we traded Cato, we would keep Dampier. If you have seen the defensive stats "Swopa" has posted many times, you'll see Dampier is a very good defensive center. I think if we got Dampier, he'd be very capable of starting at the position. ------------------ Mo money, Mo problems... [This message has been edited by thacabbage (edited September 01, 2000).]
holy mother of crap Antawn Jamison Maurice Taylor and Steve Francis on the same team for Players we dont even want???? Hallelujah in the morning If this deal is done the Playoffs will be owned by the ROckets woo-hoo I'm exicited !! ------------------ Grammar Police Cheif says 1.) feel free to post but spell check all your lettering 2.)Cyber-talk is not funny , please put parentheses stating what the abbreviation means , i.e. LOL(laughing out loud) 3.)Spelling and Grammar are fun , just ask all the people at Schoolhouse rock
Oeilpere, Is it possible that the former Clippers management team was traded to the Warriors? Thanks for the great info. Because Collier can't be traded until DEC.15, could it be possible that Cato along with the 4.45 mil exception would be the center in the deal? I'd like to see Cato stick with this team, unless the Rockets think they can make a move up in the draft next year. Why don't we give them 2 #1's for their #1 next year? With Jamison added to the mix, the Rockets could actually go deep into the playoffs & maybe win it all? Okay, maybe I'm putting the cart before the mule, but, WOW! Where are all the capologists? How does all this work out money wise? ------------------
hey id really like this deal. but ok what can we do about the center position? im sayin trade this dampier guy for a center that will be a free agent next yr this way we're out of THREE Big contracts. cato, dream, and dampier. this has to be a LOT of cap room, cuz we're gettin rid of walt and some othas too. if we can get a center that can give us 20-25 solid mins, and we can depend on the likes of dream and collier to pick up the slack, then we should do some serious damage here. SALARY CAP EXPERTS- Plz tell us if we'd have enough room for Webb next yr- he can play center rite? and lets all just hope that collier will pan out for us. ------------------ Lookin at a 75 year old man in a thong: NASTY Lookin at Shaq hit free throws: "O SH**!"
I like the way you are thinking! Even if we did get Jamison, the rebuilding process would be far from complete. We could trade Dampier and set ourselves up for Motumbo next year. C- Motumbo, Collier PF- Taylor, KT SF- Jameson, Langhi SG- SA, CAT PG- SF, MN Now we could compete with ANYBODY. ------------------ "There is no controlling legal authority", - Al Gore, upon discovery that he clearly broke campaign fundraising laws.
Errrr, let me edit this post. After being made aware that Dikembe is 35 years old, I changed my mind. We don't need anymore players in their declining years, so Mutombo doesn't made the grade. Sorry 'bout that! ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do? [This message has been edited by RocketsPimp (edited September 01, 2000).]
