after making it to page seven i feel entitled to post and let all of you know that i have nothing to say but.. i am on the inside..i know people and they tell me that barkely is going to come back and play the 3...with cato and olajuwon up front..gee gervin will play for the minimun and curley from the globetrotters is meeting with rudy in australia as we speak... i swear even after considering this is the internet you guys have enormous amounts of faith in some supposed 'reliable' source..you guys always want to prop up popeye for his posts when i can never remember a time that guy gave a solid take that actually happened that wasnt the obvious.. the same with jenna...its like last year they were talking to anderson all summer then jenna and popeye come on here saying 'ohh yeah it will happen..anderson is coming to the rockets' thats like stating the obvious folks..then all of you would jock him for his insight...ummmokay they dont know..nor does oillyperrier...if it happens props to him but lets be fair here and remember this is the internet...so far all these 'reliable' sources havent really shown me sh*t...ive been creeping for the past year and a half... would you had called me a genius if i had told you the name was the texans a month ago? ------------------ i am rather like a mosquito in a nudist camp..i know what i ought to do but i don't know where to begin...
Holy S**t! Got back from Ark., La, and Okla late last night. I am leaving this AM for two weeks in Canada. I read the posts. Anyone who emailed me got this several days ago. (PS: The story was legit, Warrior Fans. Live with it or move on.) Update I spoke with the same source who gave me the original stuff, again three days ago. He slipped me two other names who could give me some background stuff. Both are in LA. (He would not give me the name of his inside source. But there is no need as I trust my guy.) I have never met either of these two new people before, so I cannot vouch for the source or the validity of their statements. Both were great to talk to, very knowledgeable about the business of Basketball, and very educated about the game. One guy, actually a girl, told me that the talks were NOT current and that the offers were table discussions that took place as long as a month ago and as late as possibly a week ago. That at least would fit the timeframe that my guy gave me. The basic tone of her conversation though was the deal was not presently serious stage but that it had been on the table for several weeks. She felt it was dead. She did say that it was NOT unkown to have a deal done and have them waiting,ignoring one another for a specific or crucial date. But her gut feeling was that it was a dead issue. The other guy just kinda confirmed the first info I posted last week. That the talks that took place were recent and current, and that the players involved were basically what I had been told. He seemed less up on the thing itself and I did not(do not) put a lot of faith in his actually knowledge of this transaction. He did say that Jamison was shopped to several teams this summer (despite what all those Warrior fans were posting here) and that they were asking for a lot for him, especially bonus quality picks. He said he knew that several Eastern Conference teams were in heavy talks especially around the draft week. Sorry, that is all I have. I am on a plane at 1PM and haven't even driven to the city yet. Uh-huh. So let me understand this, Antawn Jamison - the player the team has based it's whole marketing scheme around this offseason has been "shopped around" all summer. Jamison, whom the team had play recruiter for Danny Fortson - and only went after Danny Fortson to please Jamison's requests to stay at SF - is being "shopped around". Also, the Warriors are asking "a lot for him" but are settling for some Rocket scrubs and draft picks - of which Houston only has one that is very valuable (Detroit's). You've obviously developed quite the credible rep around here oeilpere, but I think I can confidently say my sources within the Warriors organization has yours beat because Jamison has never been brought up in any trade talks. ------------------

Hey troll, When did oeilpere actually say that the thing would go down? Is that why you're so upset? Conversations occur every single day w/ any given player in the NBA (the phone probably hangs up faster on Tim Duncan requests, etc.). The best thing out of an oeilpere post is learning what the Rockets mindset is... don't get all riled up thinking he's suggesting this is exactly how the roster is going to look. I found this mindset interesting, because it seemingly ignores the "stretch the lanes" theory that the Rockets have always used. Jamison is not Walt on the perimeter... so a honest question would be... why? Would the Rockets, in suggesting their side, have considered playing Jamison at the four? Does Jamison usually play the four in GS? Was this before Mo committed? A month ago or so would have been immediately after opinions were solidified on Langhi... the guy can flat out shoot. Is he ready yet for a starting 3 spot? Uhhhh... But don't get so riled up. Every single GM or coach worth their weight thinks through trade scenarios. There are some that have the luxury (Coach Poppazit comes to mind) of knowing there is no way that any scenario would be better than the player in front of them. Another Sixers/Warriors trade comes to mind, given the fact that they may both have an amicable relationship after the Hughes trade. Imagine the Sixers call and say "what do you want for Jamison". Response: "Allen" (click). Just b/c people talk doesn't mean anything is going down. Odom would be a very short pursuit. He isn't going anywhere for at least another year or two(whenever his contract is up). Artest hasn't shown me anything to get excited about. He has a poor jump shot and his defense can use some work. Also, Chicago isn't ready to part with him just yet. Shameless junmping on the pile to get us closer to page 8 I am very serious. Jamison will never be an all star. He is a quality starter but not a franchise player. He has a ton of potential but he is a tweener. I will admit that if Jamison develops a consistent 20 ft J he will be an all star. I am not holding my breath. ------------------

I remember an interview with Grant Hill where he was asked who the toughest person to score against was last season and he said "Surprisingly, Ron Artest."
