Good move by Indy. They got rid of the bad attitudes and karma around that team. Jackson was horrible in the locker room, and Harrington was being used as a PF. Murphy gives them shooting and rebounding (which they need) and a solid offensive threat, Ike is a bruiser who'll rebound and score inside (something else they needed, interior scoring) and Dunleavy can play 3 positions and won't be asked to be a main cog with O'Neal, Granger and Tinsley.

If O'Neal is pleased with this deal (and I don't see why not--they added perimeter AND interior help), Indy can be a beast still. Don't sleep on them if they get their acts together because that roster has a lot of versatile talent now and they could creep up in that putrid Eastern Conference.

GS STILL won't be able to play defense. They'll score 115 points but they'll give up 125.

    I agree with this.

Stephen Jackson is negative influence on and off the court. Al doesn't fit in. Murphy gives the Pacers a C who alongside O'Neal can rebound and also hit shots to prevent double teams.

Danny Granger is already better than Al Harrington, and more able to play SF.

I have no idea on Diogu, but supposedly the Pacers were dying to get him in an Artest trade last year, and like ESPN Insider Hollinger think he will be the best player involved, and 10 years from now this will be called "the Ike Diogu trade"

The only downside is the length of Dun-Dun and Troy's contracts.

If Pacers can exorcize Tinsley all can be well in Indyland. To me this is a good deal for both teams. I am a Murph fan/believer and view SJax as the proverbial cancer.

Both teams may well be dealing again.

Good move for Indy. I think Troy Murphy is severely underrated and Mike Dunleavy is under appreciated.

The Pacers got players who fit better with Carlisle's half-court system and their shooting will improve but they are going to get slower which might make things harder for them in the long run. The key for GSW is Harrington. If he can fit in as a true 4 it will help quite a lot,if not the result isn't going to be much better.

Wouldn't mind Dunleavy or Murphy on the Rockets.

Adding Jackson to the Warriors seems crazy that's one too look out for just to see how it would work. Davis, Ellis, J-rich and now Jackson... they'd want those injuries to happen more often just so the ball will be shared around.

Stephen Jackson being traded near Oakland makes a dead or prison bound Stephen Jackson in a few years....

omg..that's wrong..lol...but I do see trouble looming too.

Um, interesting trade and all. Just 1 question: who the hell are the shooting guards for Indiana now? McLeod of the clan Mcleod is injured. Mike Dunleavy?...no way. I guess it's Marquis Daniels and...Marquis Daniels. His 5ppg and 15mpg averages are going to go way up. Unless they go Darell Armstrong with Tinsley in the backcourt. That's pretty messed up.

I'm more on board with this, the Pacers got a bunch of pieces that fit. Murphy should benefit from getting away from the Western Conference and playing with a beast in O'Neal, O'Neal benefits from having more space to operate down low. Granger gets more playing time, starts at the three and then can move to the four when the Pacers want to go small. Simply playing with a bigman as skilled as O'Neal should help Dunleavy and he'll get a chance to basically be the backup point. Diogu will be able to play wrecklessly and bring energy off the bench.

On the other end it seems like the players will benefit more then the team. Harrington should benefit from being on a team that doesn't expect him to play defense. Jackson gets a fanbase that doesn't hate him, yet. And the Euro, whos name I can't spell, gets to throw up a few open threes per game after his man leaves him to help deny penetration and no longer has to worry that his slow foot speed makes him a horrible defender.

Its easy to see what the Warriors will become as a result of this trade, at best they wil be the sacrificial lamb for the Western Conference's #1 seed. The Pacer on the other hand actually have a chance to be a team that presents matchup problems for whomever they face in the playoff and could optimise the play of both O'Neal and Granger on top of having alot of depth in the front court.

Well, they do have a lot of front court players

    C: Foster / Harrison
    PF: O'Neal / Murphy / Diogu
SF: Granger / Dunleavy / Shawne Williams / Baston

So I think initially they will play Daniels at SG. But since their roster is a bit unballenced, I wouldn't be surprised if they make another trade, perhaps trade a Big for a SG. Foster seems like a good candidate to move with Murphy coming in.

Yeah, I just checked their roster. McLeod is actually a 6'2" PG lol, I thought he was a 2. Man, they only have 2 possible shooting guards on their whole team (Marquis Daniels and Rawle Marshall) and they're both guard/forwards. Daniels has averaged 15mpg, while Marshall has played in only half the games averaging 7 minutes. There has to be another trade in the works. Otherwise, I picking up Marquis Daniels on my fantasy team.

I don't think so. I think they move Granger to the backcourt and go big at the 2-3 with Granger and Dunleavy, spread the floor for the 3 balls and cuts to the rim off Jermaine's post up game.

Rick Carlisle said they will use Granger more at the 2.

A big-for-small trade is possibly in the works, maybe for Maggette, especially if Dun-Dun Sr. convinces the Clipps to trade for his son.

This trade was also about basketball IQ and getting players that are willing to accept a secondary role and not try to dominate the ball.

Jackson does not know the meaning of a good shot, and Harrington proved to be a lot less versatile than expected, playing well only at PF where O'Neal also plays best.

Jackson is incapable of making good decisions on or off the court, and he is a poor passer. One aspect that nobody mentions is that he will go to trial for his handgun violation and there is a possibility that he will get jail time. If so his contract could be voided, and thus Golden State would be off the hook immediately for his salary.

This trade leaves the Pacers with an unbalanced roster and the backcourt still needs to be fixed, but they have a core of players who are mostly unselfish and coachable.

There are now only 4 players on the team that remain from the brawl just over two years ago: O'Neal, Tinsley, Foster, and the seldom-used David Harrison.

The house is getting cleaned up.

I wish we had a player like Troy Murphy.

Ike Diogu might be the odd man out on that lineup. I wouldn't mind having him on the Rockets (although our only trade commodity is Luther Head and it would be tough for us to ship him out).

Me too... a PF that gets double digit rebounds and can stroke the 3 ball....ah man......that would be SWEET here on the Rockets.

Odd man out? The Pacers tried to get Diogu for Artest last year, and were willing to take the bad contract of Murphy or Dunleavy to do it. GS didn't want mo-Ron.

Diogu is the main person that the Pacers wanted in this trade.

Intersting that Ron became Peja became Al, became Ike and Troy. Then you can think of Jax/Saruas/scrub for Dunleavy/scrub as the second deal, done together to make the numbers work.

The downside to the trades is the Pacers lost their #1 pick this year to get Al.

"Absolutely untrue," Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said Thursday.
