Funny how the opinions on who got fleeced in the deal are completely different :D.

Soooo...I picked up Troy Murphy for my fantasy team, I think his numbers will go up. Any other fantasy considerations?

It must be a pretty fair deal because I thought the Pacers got the better of it, and other people think GSW got the better end. Anyway, surprising since most of the guys are good rotation players. Big deal. Both teams needed to do something to shake things up. Probably I think Pacers win because I think much less of Stephen Jackson than many people. They're better off to be rid of him.

The people that think the Pacers did good are the same people that think Murphy and Dunleavy are good. They arent. And never will be.

This deal is good for the Pacers because Murphy is a better fit aside O'Neal than is Harrington.

And because they got back Diogu (yes Clutch...I would think that was one of the main reasons the Pacers did the deal).

On top of that, they got rid of sourpuss Stephen Jackson.. they lost the talent of Harrington, but he's seemed like a tweener whose best system is something like Nellie's.

LOL I thought Troy Muprhy and Dunleavy were untradeable due to their horrible contracts and crappy production. But not only were the warriors able to trade both of them, but to the same team in the same deal.

BTW Ike Diogu wasn't very good when he was in GS. Too short and slow to grab rebounds and guard other PFs.

Murphy and Dunleavy were not well liked by GSW fans-bad contracts. Dunleavy ws coming off the bench with a large contract. Diogu is well liked and respected. With structure Stephen Jackson will flourish. GSW did well in this trade- though I wish we could have gotten Diogu.

That's my analysis of the trade as well. I like it for the Pacers as they got back players that will augment O'neal's game. And I think Diogu was undervalued by GS and the Pacers got a steal with him being added into the deal.

Al Harrington should flourish in GS' system. That team will run, but won't be successful come playoff time.

I think it is a good trade for both teams. Pacers get a center in Murphy and a shooter in Dunleavy. Diogu is a good player who should give solid minutes off the bench. Warriors get rid of three players that didn't fit Don Nelson system and they get 2 players in return who should fit right in. Al Harrington is a very solid player who will go back to play natural postion which is PF. Steven Jackson will give them Warriors a small forward who could do a little bit of everything and he is a good defender.

The trade makes sense, and it will be interesting to see how both teams adjust.

    On the devil's advocate side:

Gee, Bird and Carlisle whiten their team up tremendously. WHAT a surprise.

I think they will with the 8th seed. They have a lot of talent but injuries have hurt them. If B-Diddy stays healthy, which is a big IF, they are better than than the Clipps.

So the new depth charts should be...

Jamaal Tinsley /Marquis Daniels - Darrell Armstrong - Orien Greene
    Danny Granger /Keith McLeod
Mike Dunleavey /James White - Shawne Williams - Rawle Marshall
    Jermaine O'Neal /Ike Diogu - Maceo Baston
Troy Murphy /Jeff Foster - David Harrison - John Edwards

    Baron Davis - Monta Ellis
Jason Richardson - Sarunas Jasikevicius - Anthony Roberson
Stephen Jackson - Mickael Pietrus - Matt Barnes
Al Harrington - Zarko Cabarkapa - Josh Powell
Andris Biedrins - Adonal Foyle - Patrick O'Bryant

Warriors made out like bandits. $101 million outgoing (total contract lifetimes) for $78.1 incoming. They get out from all but one (Foyle) "untradeable" contract and only take back one significantly overpaid player (Jasikevicius @ $4 mill/yr). Davis/Ellis - Richardson - Jackson/Pietrus - Harrington is a pretty terrifying foursome on the break. I have to wonder if they'll ever win another rebounding battle again.

I assume this was more about ditching Jackson than anything for the Pacers. They want good locker room guys after having toxic chemistry for the past few years. Paid a steep price for it though. Murphy lets JO slide back to the 4 and Diogu is a nice back up big, but they'll have a tough time contending or rebuilding between the talent drop and the financial stranglehold.

Richardson is out for a while and Pietrus is out as well. This is probably defending my fantasy player, but Barnes is easily their 3rd best player and arguably the 2nd best player (Biedrins is the other possible #2) right now so your depth chart is skewed. *thumbs up* :p
