Seriously Don Nelson just needs to move to the front office. He has an eye for talent but coaching them fundementals isn't his bag.
Here is my take: Biedrins is young, but he's played 82->76->62->33 games in the past 4 years due to injury. Before we take anything else into account, do we REALLY want to pay 9mil per year to a back up that has a history of injuries? Especially with Yao and his 17 mil and injury risk? Also, his shot blocking and rebounding are overrated. His best season as a shot blocker was 1.5 per game. On average, he blocks just a little over 1 per game. That's Shane Battier like numbers if you ask me. I don't know why he is considered a shot blocker. Someone also alluded to this earlier but his rebounding is inflated as well because he is the only big man playing with 4 wings. Other than being 6'11", what does he really bring to the table?
Perhaps so, but we need an experienced backup center who can play big minutes. Perhaps Portland will loan us Pryzbilla, you think? Failing that, there is Chris Mihm. Otherwise, we must rely on an inexperienced backup center.
The only way I consider Biedrins is if they cough up Randolph, Morrow, and their #6 for Jeffries, Andersen, Taylor, and Ariza.
Why does everyone want to include Jeffries in proposed trades rather than Shane Battier? I think the world of Shane for his intellect and morale fiber, but his skills are in rapid decline. Jeffries is as good or better defender and he is 6-11, meaning he can guard three positions depending on the matchup. Both are pitiful offensive players but, with the exception of a corner trey, even here Jeffries has the advantage. Finally, their contracts are roughly equal and end at the same time.
I think they want to give away players and just get rid of their contracts. Like they don't even want an expiring because they really believe they have a chance at a max free agent this off season. If they don't mind taking salary back then Maggette, and Ellis for Battier, and Martin. Will throw in Hill, and the 14th for Randolph.
Biedrins is tall, good defender, very good rebounder and shotblocker and he is still young. That's all we need, and he needs good coaching. If GSW wants to unload Biedrins contract I'll take this every day&night and I dont care how much years left in Biedrins contract ==========> Biedrins+Randolph for Hill+Jeffries. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Chase/Jt Ariza/Battier Scola/Randolph/Hayes Yao/Biedrins +14th pick +Knicks picks +Sergio LOL's draft rights Even without making a trade we're the second best team behind the Lakers with this team. And we have helluva good trade assets to get a star.
Wow, I don't check the BBS for one day and this happens. I will not leave this place for the next 48 hours.
It's a trip. I keep checking here, and the other sources on the net, but stuff keeps coming out of left field.
I would like to see Randolph in a Rocket's uniform. But it does not worth it, if we have to give up a key rotation player. I am ok with surrendering a 1st rd pick in the future and an expiring (Jeffries)
Randolph probably is a better prospect than Hill, but I suspect only marginally. However, Hill is mentally stable while Randolph can be off the wall (remember how he made the unflappable Yao Ming angry). Also, Hill is stable from a financial standpoint while Randolph has already declared he is worth $10M -- and wants the money right away.
Ellis is an upgrade of AB, do it Morey! we gotta use our expiring somewhere, you can't find better player than Jefferson/Ellis for expiring contracts. (if we fail on CP3/Okafor deal first) Battier+Anderson+Brooks for Ellis+Randolph+#6 pick Jefferies+Hill for Jefferson+#23 pick Yao Ming, Randolph, #23(Whiteside?) Jefferson, Scola, Hayes T. Ariza, #6(Aminu?) Martin, Budinger, Taylor M. Ellis, Lowry oops... and we still have our #14 where shall we ues it? K-Mart+Hayes+#6+#14+NY's pick for CP3+Posey+#11? Yao Ming, Randolph Jefferson, Scola, #11(Patterson?) T. Ariza, Budinger, Posey M. Ellis, #23(Elliot Williams?), Taylor C. Paul, Lowry btw, some underated players in this draft: Patrick Patterson/Paul George/Elliot Williams/Craig Brackins
I would be super happy with Randolph, Ellis or AB. I think we have the assets to get those guys or atleast one of them. Just hope Morey is working on something with them. Randolph would be 1st on my list with Ellis just barely behind.
Uh . . . you do know that NBA basketball is played 5-on-5, right? I would MUCH rather have Aaron Brooks ($2M salary next year) than Monta Ellis ($11M per year until 2014) right now, and I'm not even an "Aaron Brooks guy" compared to most on this BBS. Seriously, Monta Ellis is the type of player who can actually make a good team WORSE by his addition. He is perhaps the most selfish player in the entire league. There's absolute no way that he could fit into Adelman's system. Plus, he gambles far too much on defense. No, thanks.
I don't know, if you could snag Ellis, Randolph and the sixth for Ariza and Jeffries. I might consider it. Ellis, while a headcase, has major talent and its possible we could make him appear to be a good player in Houston and flip him one to two years down the line. If not, he could still be useful as long as he is reigned in. You could then possibly send the 14th to Sacramento as a bribe to pass on Cousins or Favors and nab them at the sixth spot. Was. - Wall Phi - Turner NJ - Johnson Min - Favors/Cousins Sac - Favors/Cousins Hou - ??? Brooks / Lowry Martin / Ellis Battier / Budinger Scola / Randolph Yao / Cousins / Hill
