I've never enjoyed a film as much as Return of the King. The entire trilogy has instantly become my top three favorite movies. I think some of you are just lacking in imagination. If ROTK doesn't win best picture and best director at the Oscars, then something is seriously wrong with the entertainment industry.

Truly spoken. The series has destroyed my faith in future movies. I know there wont ever be another movie like the Lord of the Rings. I have seen Return like five times in the theater and I will probably watch it five more times.
I'm surprised there's no love for "Kill Bill." That was by far my favorite movie of the year. I can't wait for volume two.
Kill Bill was one of my favorites too and another movie that I really enjoyed and Nomar absolutely hated.
We got Gigli from Netflix this weekend thinking it couldn't be that bad. After we turned it off 30 minutes later, we realized we were wrong. BTW, what is it with LOTR lovers that make them feel all self-righteous about the movies? I can understand giving Nomar a hard time about it because, well, it's Nomar. But I've noticed people who absolutely love the movies show horror when others say they didn't enjoy them that much or that they were just OK. Y'all do realize that people will have differences of opinion and may simply not like a movie that only the vast majority of the rest of the world loves, right? For me, FOTR was pretty good, TTT was amazing and ROTR was great until the not-so-subtle homo-erotic crap at the end. My favorite movie of the year was Love, Actually followed very closely by Big Fish, American Splendor, Lost in Translation and Cold Mountain. Still haven't seen 21 Grams or The Last Samurai.
I thought Love Actually was a mediocre-at-best, silly, vapid, sappy, cliche-riddled, seen-it-all-a-million-times total chick flick. A movie that desperately wanted to be written by Nick Hornby, but clearly wasn't. A ridiculous movie with ridiculous relationships ("Oooo! My brother is the Prime Minister!"). A movie that knew how to tie up the "happy" plotlines and failed miserably to resolve the "not-so-happy" ones (leaving me feel cheated when I left the theater, much like Matrix Revolutions). In essence, a forgettable movie. Care to jump to the movie's defense? Hmmmm? As Admiral Akbar said, "It's a trap!"
it's funny but the "homo erotic crap" (which i noticed throughout the movie not just at the end) made the movie for me. i felt totally betrayed when sam started talking about that girl hobbit and then ended up marrying her! i actually turned to my friend in the crowded theater and said "that's bull****! he's gay!"
Oh, I hope you didn't take that the wrong way man. It wasn't the homo-eroticism that made the last 30 minutes crap. It was the complete uselessness of it all. Vescey Sux, thanks for proving my point.
Well, I'll be honest with you, you're probably right. However, just like a lot of movies are the same, some you just enjoy tons more than others. For some reason, that movie just stuck with me more than any other this year. I don't pick my favorite movies based on anything other than the joy it gave me while I was watching it. And outside of some good p*rn, Love, Actually did exactly that, just like About a Boy, Vanilla Sky and High Fidelity did the years before that.
But you see, that was exactly the problem I had with Love Actually. After loving About a Boy the year before (and High Fidelity before that), I felt like I was seeing a wanna-be, bastardized version of those movies (the London locale certainly didn't help). And it irked me. "I know Nick Hornby, and you sir, are no Nick Hornby."
