Boozer had quite possibly the least demanding performance en route to a gold medal out of any athlete in Olympics history.
you can say what you want about kobe bryant, on and off the court, and he has sucked most of this tournament, and i think lebron is definitely the best player in the NBA, but when it came down to it, when the heat was turned up and team USA needed someone to turn to to deliver the gold medal, kobe whipped out a pair of big ol' brass ones and put the team on his back to get the gold. if he doesn't do that, i really think we lose because spain was just playing out of their minds.
Goodness I can't stand Coach K, congrats to the USA though. Spain should of did a Hack of Howard when he was in.
oh, and that was a great basketball game. punching and counterpunching from both teams all the way to the end. i wanted to throw up most of the time, but it was a great game and why sports is great.
man, dream team? behh I think its time for everyone to accept that even with the very best players in the NBA, the US team is barely better than Spain.
It's not embarassing. Give credit to the rest of the countries participating in the olympics for getting better at basketball.
Bravo Spain! Great effort. You should be proud! No other team could have done as well as you did this game. You have replaced Argentina as my favorite foreign national team.
The US turned it on whenever they needed to in this game. Spain played as well as they possibly could have played, and still lost by 11.
Hah! The talent gap between these two teams is infinite. Let's see those dirt farmers come close on one of our courts under our rules. They have the advantage of having played these rules their whole lives and they've also played together much longer. The talent pool in the USA is ridiculously deeper than every other country in the world combined. Yes, the gap has narrowed slightly but it's still huge and it will be for a long, long time. Don't let this FIBA crap fool you. Basketball is still OUR sport by a wide margin.
