He's stupid because even it didn't fly away, the idea of the balloon popping while walking around the city was lost to him.

The other mark of stupidity is telling his gf.

He should have hired a party clown that makes those funny balloon figures. Then the party clown could have made a balloon to look like a donkey. The rich man then could have attached the ring onto the donkey balloon. Good times.

It's a stupid and risky idea, but at least he could have "insured" the idea by doing it indoors where if the balloon flies up, it is stopped by a ceiling of sorts. What kind of ass munch doesn't think a balloon with helium COULD float away??

Plonker is a slang term of British or Australian origin whose meaning has evolved over time. Partridge in the third edition of his A Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English in 1949 recorded the term as "low" slang for penis, "since ca. 1917". The term remains in recent use with that meaning.

By 1966, the term had also acquired the meaning of a stupid or inept person, and in the 1980s it gained very wide circulation through its frequent use in Only Fools and Horses, and has entered common usage.

Even if she had popped it, it would have probably gone down a drain somewhere.

Why helium? What was the point of that? Why not just blow up a balloon and do it that way?

    Wow.......amazing.

Is there a Darwin Awards category for marriage proposals? ;)

"Stuff White People Like" #1225 - proposing marriage in outlandish ways *Hajji doesnt sound like a white name but stilll :p)

Just sounds like some scene in a Ben Stiller movie waiting to happen. Could be reading a story instead of the balloon popping and firing the ring right into her eye. Did he even put it in a ring box? What kind of power helium balloon was he using if it was in a box? Could have put some extra weight in the balloon, goodness...

Sadly I think more women than we want to admit would respond how she did...Also if she was okay with the engagement ring not being necessary for marriage...then why need $12,000 and more for a ring in the first place? All that time together so it could be dissolved cuz you blew the big moment. "Love" my a_ _ ;)
